If you have narrow shoulders, a small bust and big hips, bottom; consider yourself a pear. It is common to receive advice insisting that pears hide as much of their pear shape as they can by drawing attention elsewhere, but hiding what you have is, in a way, not accepting who you are. We’ll include some tips for how to enhance your shape and accept your curvy bottom while still remaining stylish.
A pears best friend is a tunic style top that hugs the hips.
Choose a top that stops around your hips and adorn a skinny belt to cinch the fabric at the waist.
This still shows off your curves while also giving you the appearance of a more defined waist. Pears can also play up the top with ruffles and bows which will draw the eye up and give a more balanced proportion.
Boot cut style jeans are the most recommended fit of jeans for pears, but let’s face it many women like the style of a skinny leg jean. Don’t shy away from skinnies, just remember, it’s all about balance. Skinny jeans for the pear work best with the top and belt combo recommended above. If you decide to go with a skinny jean avoid tops that stop at the waist, this will cut you in half and will not flatter your shape. Always aim for tops that at least stop at the hip. If you don’t want to go quite skinny, but you’re still not feeling the boot cut style, a great option would be the barely boot or straight jean style. Express has a great selection of barely boot jeans which have a straighter leg with a slimmer fit from the knee down.
Pears can wear a lighter pant on bottom; as mentioned numerous times before, it’s all about flattering your shape. If you do choose to go for a lighter pant make sure it’s a solid, one color bottom. This is crucial especially in jeans. Stay away from multi-dyed fabrics that put the lighter color on the fronts and backs of thighs and on the butt pockets. This is not flattering and often times can appear cheap.
Levi’s has a new line of custom fit jeans for women, Levi’s Curve ID. The options are growing for women on the curvy side and pears should not feel the need to hide or be ashamed of their shape. Are you a pear? Give us your style tips and ideas below and on the inHer GLAM Facebook page.
