It’s common knowledge that breakfast is an essential part of your daily diet when it comes to maintaining weight and energy levels. Grabbing a muffin or breakfast bar can seem like a quick fix to your breakfast woes, but sometimes we need to focus on the total package to reap the full benefits.

Let’s use a quick example. A wild blueberry muffin from Panera Bread has 440 calories, 17 grams of fat and 39 grams of sugar. You’re probably thinking that’s not bad… keep that thought, we’re still at Panera Bread, but here’s another option.

Order an egg and cheese sandwich on whole grain bread with a strawberry parfait, hold the granola and you have 470 calories with 17 grams of fat and 22 grams of sugar. This option has the protein you need to kick start your metabolism, will sustain your hunger for much longer than option one, will give you good energy (not a sugar high) and includes a food from almost every food group.

Check out our breakfast combos we’ve included below that we’re sure will give your day an healthy, yummy start!
