The day after

It’s June 11, a normal day for most people, unless you’re blogger Rachel Kane. Rachel Kane was issued a cease and desist order from retail giant Forever 21 back in April, stating that her blog WTForever21.com had to be taken down by June 10; or they would sue.

WTForever21.com was started a little over a year ago, as a satire blog, mocking various items carried by Forever 21. While Kane used humor in her writing, she did showcase items from the store that she actually liked.

In an interview with NBC Los Angeles, Kane talked more about the letter and expressed her feelings about possibly having to take the site down.

Kane also wrote a letter to Consumerist.com saying:

Forever 21 also insists WTForever21.com, which uses pop culture and historical references to lampoon the behemoth retailer’s most unsavory garments, is damaging the company’s reputation by associating the internet “colloquialism” of “WTF” with their company.

NYDailyNews.com reports the cease and desist letter issued to Kane from Forever 21 also sites copyright infringement, trademark infringement, unfair competition and dilution.

WTForever21.com gained popularity in the fall after being featured on pop culture site Jezebel.com and was quickly followed by other sites including Time.com, TheFrisky.com and the Huffington Post’s blog roll.

So what’s the status of Kane’s site the day after June 10? The site is still accessible with the last post a ‘news feed’ of where to catch up on news regarding Forever 21 vs Kane. The last actual post about Forever 21’s merchandise was May 15 entitled The shoe ring holder your shoe ring holder could look like.

After more than 333, 000 views, Kane is currently employed; the status of her site… unknown. As for Forever 21? After being involved in multiple cases itself, it’s still business as usual.
