Fall is here and so is the new fall television line-up. Set your DVR, because you don’t want to miss this fall’s most promising new shows starring strong female leads. You may recognize some of these leads from the movies. Even though they’ve now taken the small screen, they play big roles that keep you entertained, inspired and returning every week.
2 Broke Girls – CBS, Mondays, 8:30/7:30c
Kat Dennings (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) and Beth Behrs star as two waitresses in Brooklyn who end up as roommates. One has been working her whole life (Dennings) and the other grew up rich but is now… well broke (Behrs). The chemistry between Dennings and Behr is refreshing, quick-witted and smart. The duo gives hope to girls who just want to make it in the city.

Ringer – The CW, Tuesday 9/8c
Cult superhero, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Cruel Intentions) finally returns to television in this new drama, and this time around we get twice as much of her. She plays both twin sisters, who find each other after living drastically different lives. This show promises to be action-packed, devious, and everything you love about SMG’s slaying days and cruel intentions.

New Girl – Fox, Tuesdays 9/8c
Comedy starring a quirky Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer) who discovers that her live-in boyfriend cheated on her and has to find a new place to live. She moves in with three guys whose lives are about to change more than they expect when having a girl around. An endearing comedy about bromance plus one, it’s Entourage with a new girl.

Up All Night – NBC, Wednesday, 8/7c
Christina Applegate (Samantha Who, Married with Children) with on-screen stay-at-home husband, Will Arnett (Arrest and Development), plays a working mom who’s determined to be a career woman while still remaining present in her baby’s life. Unafraid of women in high places, the comedy delivers in laughs, attesting to the trials of new parenthood and the demands of a diva boss played by the hilarious Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids).

Pan Am– ABC, Sundays, 10/9c
Christina Ricci (Penelope) stars as the globe-trotting stewardess in the period drama about famous Pam American World Airways. Making flying glamorous again, it brings back the nostalgic era of the 1960’s through fashion, set design, and plot lines with a flair for espionage. Pam Am is no longer just an account mentioned at the advertising agency on Mad Men, it’s the new, refreshing and sexy drama that mad men of the era would have loved to watch.
