If you plan to stick to your 2013 workout goals, and do it by working out at home, then you’ll want to check out these at home workout essentials!
Yoga Mat |
A yoga mat is a great tool for support and comfort, especially if you plan to practice on hardwood floors. The mat also helps give you some grip; this is important if you practice barefoot or in socks. Yoga mats can be found in a variety of styles and colors for as little as $5!
Weights |
Weights are essential when you talk about doing a complete body workout. Start off with 2 and/or 5 pound weights. As you progress further in your routines over time, you can always pick up heavier pound weights. Weights don’t have to be expensive! Skip the athletic apparel stores and shop for weights at your local Walmart or Target.
Jump rope |
Jumping rope is a great way to get a quick cardio workout in. While you can still do this exercise without an actual rope, adding a real rope will help push you to jump higher and faster to really get that heart rate pumping!
Towels |
This might seem like a non essential, but the truth of the matter is that you’re going to sweat. Purchase cheap towels that are designated for workouts only so you avoid ruining your more expensive towels.
These are just a few bare essentials that we feel will help you along your fitness journey; of course you’ll need yourself and plenty of water. You can always purchase these essentials further into your journey or substitute with items you may already have at home (canned goods as weights anyone?). Just remember to stick to it and you can always reference our Glam & Fit category for more motivation!
