We’re in the midst of the winter season (and the coldest, hello Chicago); and like every other part of your body you want to insure that your lips brave the harsh winds and remain soft and supple. There are two simple daily steps to complete to achieve soft, moisturized lips.
The first and most important step is to exfoliate dead skin daily. You can do this by making your own scrub consisting of brown sugar and a little olive oil, or you can buy a pre-made lip scrub. Daily exfoliation helps eliminate dead skin and leaves soft lips which will be perfect for whatever chapstick, lip gloss or lipstick you apply on later.
The final and crucial step is to moisturize! Refrain from licking your lips, this can cause your lips to feel dryer or can even create a rash. You can moisturize with good old ChapStick which you can get from just about any store for under $2. Some other options include Vaseline’s Lip Therapy which comes in a cute mini container which you apply with your fingers. It has a slightly thick consistency, but goes on smooth and leaves a slight shine. Another option is EOS, which comes in an sphere shaped container. It’s 95% organic and 100% natural. Its wide structure is both sanitary and convenient, helping you apply the lip moisturizer in just two swipes. While it doesn’t leave that much of a shine, it still moisturizes the lips creating a soft base for any lip color or gloss that you may apply later.
By doing these simple things daily, you’re guaranteed to have crack-free and moisturized lips all season long! How do you keep your lips as soft as can be? Chime in below or tweet us!
