Over the weekend I had the opportunity to finally attend a Rachel O. event and I had an amazing time! With commentary from Sista TV (who was hilarious), the Black Beauty Summit featured a wellness panel on, a demonstration by Erica Douglas of Curls Unleashed and a fashion show.
The panel included author Yanni Brown, skin expert Dr. Elton Tinsley, fitness coach LaQuesha McClain and mental health expert Felicia Houston. They talked about fitness, health and even got personal touching on what not only goes in your body, but what comes out. Some of the panel members had great advice for the women present about self worth, loving yourself first and being the best you possible; not letting others determine your happiness. The Curl Unleashed demonstration was in depth and actually made me want to try out a lot of the products. I’m not going to lie, I’ve seen the Curls Unleashed line multiple times but never actually went to purchase since I have been testing out quite a few products (and my winter regimen is very strict thanks to the dry Chicago air). Erica Douglas, who is actually a chemist and the developer of the line told her story about how she actually went natural to test the products first hand.
She also showed how the products worked on live models with various curl patterns. I did receive some good size samples of the line which were included in the very awesome goody bag (including Beautiful Textures which my review can be found here), so you can def look out for future reviews and first impression videos. Following the demonstration, there was a fashion show featuring Blair Chic Boutique, Hidden Treasures Boutique, Slice by CAKE and Pretty Afrika. It was a cute fashion show, but the kiddies definitely stole the show! Make sure to check out the complete fashion show album on our Facebook page!
Rachel O. wrapped it up with raffles and that was that. I truly enjoyed myself, as well as the vendors in attendance. It was great to see so many beautiful, natural women in one place. I look forward to future Rachel O. events for sure!
