This week I’m getting a little personal and letting you into my fitness life. Since Glam & Fit was re-introduced back onto the website in January I have been diligently working out, eating better and just doing better overall.
Well about a month ago I hit a plateau. You know when you get to that point where you’re not seeing results, that’s kind of where I was. I was working out at least five days a week and had cut out a lot of foods from my diet. While my clothes were fitting loser, the scale was not budging. I know from experience that you should never trust the scale, but I still felt discouraged because I thought I should be further along than I was.
So I hit a plateau and I hit it hard. My workouts decreased to about twice a week and I just wasn’t motivated for a while. Fast forward, I went to the doctor and was informed that my my height and age I’m okay at the weight that I am but if I wanted to lose “weight” then ten pounds is what the doctor recommended. That did give me a little motivation but how I pushed through the that stagnant period was by reexamining why I was making a lifestyle change.
Essentially I made all of these changes so that I would feel better and be better person physically and mentally in the long run. Eating healthier and exercising are things that I should be doing especially as I get older and incorporating those lifestyle changes are needed, I believe, for anyone young or old.
So how do you get over your fitness plateau? Remember why you started on this journey in the first place. Surround yourself with someone or a group of people who you can hold you accountable. Make it a lifestyle change and not a chore or a task. Finally, do it for yourself. If you keep these things in mind when you get a little discouraged, you’ll be able to get through it stronger in the end.
If you’ve experience a plateau or are currently experiencing on I would love to hear your thoughts and input. Let me know below or tweet me using hashtag #GlamandFit!
