SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
So last night they dropped (what I believe) was the biggest shocker of the season… Black Canary is Sarah Lance!
Sarah (Laurel’s sister) is alive and she’s not going anywhere anytime soon. So let’s start from the beginning. Oliver and team are trying to stop local gangs from getting and using military grade firearms. The gang is run by “The Mayor” who’s foster brother served in the military and is how he was able to get the weapons.
While at an event put on by Oliver’s family company him and Felicity figure out that Black Canary hasn’t been following him but Laural. Oliver finds her at Laurel’s apartment and traps her where she reveals (or he, whichever way you want to say it) who she really is… Sarah’s alive!
When he returns to his “office” he reveals to Felicity and Diggle that Sarah didn’t die on the boat but that he saw her again on the island, but he thought she died for real there. After some digging, Felicity and Diggle are able to track the crate of guns and Oliver shows up but everyone scatters once the arrows start flying. He goes to Alderman Blood to talk about a Cash for Guns event where he’d be a silent donor to get the people of the Glades to turn their guns in for money.
At the event Sin (Canary’s assistant or sidekick) is there and runs into Roy and Thea. Oliver is also there and is talking to the alderman when The Mayor and his gang come through shooting at everyone. Oliver pushes the alderman out of the way from being shot after running his mouth, but Sin is shot and Roy gets her medical attention.
Seeing The Mayor’s face Oliver and team are able to ID him through facial recognition where they find out his connection to his foster brother. Oliver teams up with Sarah and they take down the gang and turn The Mayor in to the police. Oliver convinces her to tell her family she’s alive and it ends with it looking like that’s what she’s going to do, oh but wait, there’s another shocker.
Alderman Blood, yeah he’s killing people by injecting them with an unidentified green shot. The Mayor, he didn’t go to jail he went to an underground lab and he died there. Def didn’t see that one coming either.
Some takeaways…
– Laurel has gone to the deep end. Her guilt of Tommy’s death has led her to not only drinking, but drinking while taking medication at the same time. Never a good combination.
– The flashbacks are going to give us some deets on what happened when Oliver saw Sarah on the island. We got a teeny taste, but next week it’s going to heat up.
– It looks like Diggle hasn’t given up his search for Dead Shot. He met with the agent lady he worked with last season so prepare to see where they go with that storyline.
– I was all for an Oliver/Sarah, Arrow/Black Canary tag team, but after seeing the previews for next week that may not happen.
