SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
This episode was all about tying loose ends, or so it seems. Lydia is back, thanks to Margo, and we learn she never boarded the plane that we all thought she died on a couple of season ago because Victoria saved her. She’s back in the Hamptons to help Margo with her story on Conrad, but Margo wants her to stay in hiding until she can find someone else who can corroborate Lydia’s version of events. Of course Lydia doesn’t listen.
Sensing Daniel is still confused about his feelings for Sarah, Emily tries to get him to agree about going public about their pregnancy but he doesn’t want to. While visiting with Victoria to go over the seating arrangements for the wedding, Lydia shows up and words are exchanged. Daniel shows up and Emily tells him about Lydia’s return. On her way out the door, Emily approaches Lydia and Lydia tells her that she still doesn’t trust her. Emily does a little slick taunting and Lydia pushes her. After falling, Daniel reveals to his mother that Emily is pregnant, giving Emily the opportunity to plant the news of the baby in the media.
Recap: Revenge Episode 308 ‘Secrecy’
Meanwhile, Charlotte is still trying to push Sarah down Daniel’s throat. She follows him on his run where he reveals how he was perfectly okay with the way his life was heading before Sarah reappeared. He tells her that now he’s confused and he just needs to figure everything out. Once news of the pregnancy gets out everything kind of shifts into its place. Sarah comes to Daniel and he tells her that he plans to marry Emily and raise his child and Sarah gives him back the necklace and leaves and he throws the necklace in the water. Charlotte comes and apologizes to Emily about not having her back and how she plans to be a better aunt than she was a Maid of Honor. Charlotte then goes to Victoria and suggests she stop meddling in Daniel’s business; she also reveals her plans to move out and take care of her own life.
Believing he has an interview with Time Magazine, Conrad walks into a meeting setup by Lydia. Once Lydia realizes Conrad isn’t who she remembers, Margo finds out (thanks to Aiden) that Lydia hasn’t been staying undercover. She tells her she can’t trust her and severs ties with her, believing she only came back to rekindle a relationship with Conrad.
The gun that’s supposed to be used to “kill Emily” has arrived and to make sure their set up is fool proof, Emily shoots off a couple of rounds at a gun range so that gunpowder residue will get on Victoria’s bracelet that she just happens to be wearing. In preparation for the big day, Aiden sets up a candlelit meditation for Emily to relax and de-stress. When she opens her eyes he proposes to her, she accepts and he reveals the new identities Nolan set up for them.
Just when everything seems to be back on track, Victoria pays Emily a visit to discuss Nolan’s seat at the head table letting her know that she won’t be in attendance at the wedding. But wait, there’s more. Since Conrad had a bunch of old boxes of memories pulled to go through for his book Lydia decides to take a look in them. She comes across a photo album from a New Year’s Eve party that shows Emily as one of the waitresses pre her Emily Thorne days. Mind you this is a copy of the same photo that Nolan had to alter in the first season when Lydia threatened to use that revelation to expose Emily. All I can say is next week is going to be crazy!
Some takeaways…
– I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t care about Margo or her storyline. I feel like it’s pretty useless and if she just happened to disappear I wouldn’t be that upset about it.
– I’m so glad the Sarah storyline is over with. While I do like Aiden, I secretly want Emily to really like Daniel. I do feel like she had legit feelings for him in season one but she’s totally all Aiden this season. I feel bad for Daniel because he gets the shortest stick out of this entire scenario, all so Emily can exact revenge on Victoria.
– Next week is the big winter finale which means it’s wedding time. It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this wedding to take place. I cannot wait until next week to see how this all plays out. Emily and Aiden have covered EVERY minute detail in this setup. Something’s going to go wrong no doubt, I mean, we do have the rest of the season to get through after the break. I still don’t know who will pull the trigger, I do think it’ll be Victoria but you never know. I know something is going to happen that Emily won’t be able to fake her death and she’ll have to return. Either way, however this plays out will let us know how we’ll move forward for the rest of the season. One thing is for sure, I see this series wrapping up soon. If not this season, definitely next season.
