SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I’m not going to lie, this episode dragged for me until the last five minutes; like seriously. This may be the shortest recap of the season so far.
This episode was pretty much all about the wedding. Emily and Aiden had the well thought out plan on how they would frame Victoria for Emily’s “death” during the family honeymoon on the yacht. Well before that, Emily goes to Conrad and tells him that Victoria’s not coming to the wedding and how she’d like for everyone, including Patrick, to be apart of the big day.
Sara is still here… why?? She’s still trying to get answers or whatever from Daniel who pretty much tells her that his decision is final. Emily goes to apologize to Jack and tells him about how Amanda died in her arms and her final wishes. Jack gets upset and tells Emily that she ruined the goodbye moment for them. Conrad thinks Lydia was only back to help Margo with her book, but after a brief conversation with Margo he realizes that she really does love him. He invites her on the honeymoon yacht (worst idea ever) and they make plans to make their relationship official. This is all after Lydia threatens Emily with that dreaded picture from the first season. Emily gives her back the house on the condition that she doesn’t come to the wedding.
Recap: Revenge Episode 309 ‘Surrender’
The wedding goes as planned with everyone in attendance. Daniel calls Sara and leaves her message while Sara is at The Stowaway drunk and trying to make a pass at Jack who sends her home in a taxi. Nolan and Patrick reconnect and their relationship moves forward as if nothing ever happened. Everyone boards the yacht for the family honeymoon, including Lydia and Margo who’s covering the wedding for the magazine. Emily has a surprise and plays a video of everyone at previous Grayson events. She “accidentally” spills her drink on Victoria and she goes to change. Daniel receives a call from Sara’s roommate who tells him that she tried to commit suicide. While attempting to change she’s joined by Lydia who shows her the picture with Emily in it and Victoria goes to the top deck where Emily is attempting to stage her death.
Victoria shows Emily the picture and calls her a predator. She tells her that she never loved Daniel and threatens to expose her, but she’s quickly knocked out with a drugged rag by Aiden who tells Emily she has two minutes to fire the shots and get off the boat. He takes Victoria back to her room and Daniel emerges telling Emily that he heard the entire conversation between her and his mother. He is obviously in his emotions since he just heard about Sara trying to kill herself and now knows that Emily was never pregnant and this entire thing was a set up. He grabs the gun and shoots her in the stomach and she falls off the boat. Sidenote, I so saw this coming. I knew one of the Grayson kids would be the shooter.
Daniel panics, for a brief moment, throws the gun overboard then rejoins everyone in the main cabin. The captain announces that someone is overboard and everyone runs to the top deck. There’s blood everywhere and a piece of Emily’s dress caught on the rail. Everyone questions where Emily and Victoria is. Meanwhile Aiden swims to shore where he’s met by Jack who’s there to properly say goodbye to Emily. He asks where she is and Aiden tells him she should’ve arrived before him. They then see her bloody dress wash up on the beach and they both go running into the water searching for her. End scene…
Some takeaways…
– I. Am. Not. Happy. This was the slowest, and most boring episode of the season. It didn’t get exciting until the last five minutes and now we have to wait until January to see what happens.
– From the previews Emily is still alive but has lost her memory, plus someone (Daniel I believe) is still trying to kill her while team Take Down The Graysons try to save her…– I hope that Sara is out of the picture completely once we return, but that may not happen. Also, I believe Patrick is up to no good and I still don’t trust him after he accidentally revealed a hidden safe in Nolan’s house.
– I don’t know how long they’re going to play the Emily has amnesia card, but I hope it’s not for long. The suspense and tricks is why I fell in love with the show to begin with and an out of commission Emily does not fit the bill for me.
