SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)

There were some surprises on last night’s episode of Arrow. We also got to see some earlier characters comeback so I would say that this was just a prequel of what we’re about to get. Check out the recap below!

We open with a guy being put into jail. We quickly find out that his cellmate is Bronze Tiger. He speaks a little jibberish then forces knives out of his wrist… how it got there I have absolutely no idea. He’s obviously dead, and Bronze Tiger uses he claw to escape when the guard comes in to check out the bloody inmate.

Oliver is teaching Roy how to control his strength (as Arrow) and Roy gets upset because he doesn’t feel like Arrow is truly helping him. Arrow reveals that he had a friend who had been injected with the Mirakuru and he had to kill him by putting an arrow in his eye.

Oliver and company are alerted through their system the Bronze Tiger has escaped. Bronze Tiger finds out he was broken out of jail to help recover the Malcom’s earthquake machine that literally destroyed Starling City.

Still frustrated with his training and believing that Arrow is only trying to make a fool of him, Roy asks him to take him out with him for one night so he could better adjust to his training.

Moira goes out to dinner with Walter, but finds out it’s actually a business meeting to convince her to run against Sebastian Blood. Officer Lance finally convinces Laurel to go to dinner with him, but she’s quickly disappointed when she learns it’s an ambush to get her to go to an AA meeting. She gets upset and it puts another rift in their relationship.

Oliver gets a call that Bronze Tiger is at Malcom’s house and reluctantly takes Roy with him. Arrow and Bronze Tiger face off while Roy, against orders, attacked the driver repeatedly bashing his face in. Bronze Tiger escapes and Oliver get Roy off of the guy.

A visibly upset Oliver returned to tell Felicity and Diggle about what happened out on the field. He hands over a watch for Felicity to pull fingerprints off of. Oliver talks about Roy and the look he had in his eye, how it resembled Slade’s. He tells them what happened on the island and how he wanted to be the one to tell him about how Shado died but he found out from someone else.

Roy goes to try to convince Thea to get her mother and leave the city. Thea doesn’t listed and asks lots of questions, Roy grabs her arm and unintentionally hurts her. He freaks out and runs off. Laurel goes to check out a possible job lead and finds out the the Bar Association is opening up a conduct case on her meaning she may be disbarred, and until it’s over she the firm won’t hire her.

Thea walks in on her mother and Walter discussing Moira possibly running for mayor. Thea thinks it’s a good idea and voices her complete support. Roy tells Arrow about trying to convince Thea to run he gets upset telling him to leave her out of this. Oliver still tries to convince Roy to let him help him, but Roy won’t listen. Roy gets upset when he mentions Thea and tries to attack him. Roy pretty much throws him across the room and threatens him, telling him he can try to put an arrow in him but he’ll heal quickly and he’ll continue fighting.

Diggle tells Oliver that some people are broken and you just can’t put them back together. Oliver says he refuses to believe that and he will help Roy. Thea calls Oliver adn tells him that a very drunk Laurel is at the bar. Oliver and Thea both try to get convince her to go home. Oliver gets her a cab just as Felicity tells him she’s matched the fingerprints. Oliver calls someone and tells them that Laurel desperately needs them (I suspect it’s Sara).

Bronze Tiger meets with the guy who hired him with the earthquake machine and 10 million dollars is transferred to his account. Just as they’re wrapping up Oliver bursts on the scene. He shoots a couple of the guys with arrows and it appears that Bronze Tiger has escaped, but as he’s talking to the man in charge Bronze Tiger jumps off of a building sinking his sharp claws into his back.

Of course Roy shows up on the scene and starts beating the crap out of Bronze Tiger but the man in charge activates the earthquake machine. Oliver tries to get Roy to help him stop the machine but he’s not listening. Oliver takes off his hood and masks and grabs Roy. Roy swings around to see it’s Oliver and Oliver tells him that they have to stop the machine to save everyone, to save Thea. Roy gets his ish together and punches through the canister holding the machine. Oliver throws an arrow bomb inside and it blows up before causing any damage.

After composing themselves, Roy realizes that Oliver is Arrow and tells him how grateful he was that Oliver saved his life last year. He tells him that that drove him, gave him purpose and they shake it out.

The flashbacks closely resemble what’s happening in the present. Slade has gone rogue and is trying to blow up Ivo’s freighter. Oliver and Sara finally catch up with him before he blows anything up and come face to face with resistance. With a gun pointed at his head, Oliver eventually convinces him not to do it by telling him that Shado loved him and wanted him to escape the island. Slade breaks down and Oliver reveals his plan for them as a team to take over the freighter.

Back at the lair, Oliver reveals that he didn’t think about the consequences of telling Roy who he really was. He just knew that he had to convince him to think about Thea and that Arrow wasn’t able to do that.

Walter shows up at the McQueen’s residence and Moira tells him that she plans to run for mayor. She also expresses her concerns about info on who Thea’s biological father is. She tells him that her OB is the only one who knows and that she doesn’t want him to be a problem.

Oliver introduces Roy to Diggle and Felicity who welcome him with open arms, while a very drunk Laurel just about passes out after getting home only to see her supposedly dead sister in front of her. Yep, this is getting good!

Some takeaways…

– I’m glad we didn’t have to wait forever for Oliver to reveal his real identity to Roy. I’m excited about how the Arrow team is shaping up, and I like how not everyone close to Oliver absolutely has to know about him being the Arrow.

– I’m excited to see Sara return in the present day. It’s going to be interesting to see how Laurel handles knowing her sister is really alive because Laurel is an absolute mess right now. I don’t know if Sara’s return will have anything to do with the rumors of Laurel becoming black canary.

– Not sure how I feel about the whole Moira running for mayor storyline. I think it will add something new to the Sebastian Blood storyline and I also think this will lead to Oliver finding out Sebastian’s true colors.
