SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Some secrets were reveals and an undercover agent exposed. It was an action packed, intense episode and I loved every minute of it. Check out the recap below!
We start it off with Thea in the car with Slade, under the impression that she’s being taken home. When she notices they’re in the wrong place she questions him and he orders her out of the car. Scared, she runs out of the car right into a masked man’s arms.
Oliver has been missing meetings due to what’s going on with Slade. He finally goes to a board meeting but Moira shows up asking if he’s seen Thea and to make sure he’s going to the debate. At the debate between Moira and Sebastian, while waiting for a video submitted question the mediator says it’s from Thea Queen. The screen portrays a crying Thea asking for help, then a masked man shows up and text overlays the video asking how important is Thea’s life.
The police are set up at Queen’s Consolidated trying to find Thea. Not trusting them, Oliver has Felicity tracking her as well. Isabel wants Oliver to participate in a board vote, but he’s too distracted so he names her temporary CEO. Felicity tracks Thea’s last know location, which was getting into an unidentified car. Che finds out that it’s registered to Slade and is at an abandoned bar. Thinking that it’s too easy, Sara gives alive a very potent tranquilizer. Oliver, Sara and Roy go to the location and find a calm Slade alone.
Oliver asks him where Thea is, but he doesn’t answer so Roy hits him. Still not cooperating Oliver tells Roy to call Officer Lance and tell him to come to the location to arrest Slade just before shooting him with the tranquilizer.
In custody, the police have to let Slade go because he has an alibi. Before he’s released, Oliver goes to try to talk to him honestly. He asks how he escaped the island and he tells him he swam, but was swept up in a tide. Oliver asks him why he’s doing this and Slade tells him he knows why. Oliver says it’s been five years, let it go. If he wants to blame someone blame, him not his sister. He even begs, but Slade won’t budge.
As he leaves, Team Arrow tracks him… or tries to rather. Felicity is tracking the car by it’s tracker, but Diggle gets cutoff trying to follow him and when Sara gets to the car it’s empty. Roy then tries to follow him on foot, but he loses him.
Back where Slade is keeping Thea captive, he joins her and tells her she’s free to go because he’s made his point. Before she leaves he tells her that Oliver has a secret and asks if she wants to know what it is.
Upset about losing Slade, Roy takes his frustration out on the team, specifically Oliver saying that they shouldn’t have listened to him. Meanwhile, Oliver is with Moira who’s taking Thea’s abduction badly. She tells him that she only told them lies, not to keep the safe, but to keep herself from the truth.
Back at the lair, Roy tries to leave and his anger starts to rise. Diggle tries to calm him, but he turns on him and Sara shoots him with an arrow. Oliver returns just in time, but Roy is fed up and tells him that he’s done. He tells him that he believed in him, but that Thea being missing was all his fault. As Roy leaves, Felicity gets word that Isabel has been named the new CEO of Queens Consolidated.
Oliver rushes there and Isabel has everyone leave the room. He asks her why she did it and she tells him that he should’ve focused more on his business and not on his nightly activities. Realizing that she’s been working with Slade, he grabs her by the throat. She tells him that Slade planted her there to push him out then starts attacking him. He gets her in a hold and tells her to tell him where Thea is or he’ll kill her.
She tells him where Thea is but that Slade wants him to come alone or he’ll kill Thea. Diggle and Sara try to stop him from going alone, but Felicity tells him to go and finish this. Oliver arrives at the location and fights off like twenty masked men. When he gets in the room, it’s empty. Felicity calls him and tells him that Thea just walked into the precinct. Meanwhile, Slade stopped a bus full of inmates, killing the guards and having the men come with him.
When Oliver and Moira arrive at the station Thea reveals that Slade told her about Malcolm Merlin being her father and she leaves. Roy watches from his car as she leaves, then drives out of the city. Once the Queens leave, Officer Lance is arrested for multiple felonies and aiding the vigilante. Due to the abduction stunt, Moira’s ratings go up in the mayor race. Sebastian is upset and tells Slade that he was supposed to get him the election. We find out that the science department of Queen’s Consolidated will be used to make serum using samples of Slade’s blood.
Frustrated, Oliver tells Felicity and Diggle that he went about this all wrong. They ask him what they’re next step is and he tells them that they’re going to fight back. Meanwhile, Laurel is at home watching the coverage of Thea’s abduction and her naming Slade as her abductor. Someone knocks on the door and it’s Slade. Scared, she tries to close the door, but he gets in telling her that he’s not going to hurt her. He tells her that he wants Oliver to pay. She asks him why and he tells her it’s because he’s not the man she thinks he is and then reveals that Oliver is Arrow.
Some takeaways…
– Slade just does not care and everyone Oliver cares about is falling one by one. This totally changes everything and it’ll be interested to see how Laurel will evolve through this.
– On the island we got to see what happened when Sara tried to make the trade with Slade. They decide to put explosives on Hendricks, but it fails because he senses the bomb. He’s about to kill Sara when Oliver jumps in front of her. Shado shows up in Slade’s conscious and tells him that they should pay by being prisoners to the island and that’s what he decides.
– Roy really got under my skin this episode. I need for him to take a chill, recuperate and return ready to be a team player.
