SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
So if you live in the Chicago area then you were probably upset like me about have to wait four hours to watch this episode since they decided to air the Cubs game… Despite the wait, I was totally hooked from the beginning to the end with this episode. Def one of the best ones of the season! Check out the recap below!
Oliver and team break into Queens Consolidated lab to blow it up, an idea we find out was originally Felicity’s, to keep Slade from going through with his plans to use the Mirakuru on the prisoners. Oliver finds out from their family lawyer that Isabel has been laying the groundwork for the takeover of his family’s company, making them pretty much broke on paper. They have to move all of their assets to another count but all three of them have to sign the documents.
Moira tells him why he never trusted Isabel, revealing that she’d had an affair with his father. Now he has to convince Thea to help them stop Isabel by signing the papers to move their assets.
Laurel is trying to prove that Oliver is the Arrow, asking her father if he knows who he or the woman in black (Black Canary) are. He tells her he doesn’t, while he’s locked up facing 18 months in jail for aiding the vigilante.
Felicity and Diggle have been trying to locate Roy but they find out that his apartment has been cleared out. They meet with Oliver and Sara to return to the lair but find Slade there and he pretty much kicks all of their behinds, except for Felicity who hid the entire time because she’s not a trained fighter. He literally catches Sara in midair by the throat and tosses her across the room. He disappears as Felicity turns on the lights to find all three laid out.
Laurel goes to the hospital to check on Sara who ended up with a hairline fracture to her wrist. The doctor asks Laurel if Sara had ever served in the military because majority of her body is covered with scar tissue reminiscent to someone who served in war. She tells him she hasn’t and walks in on Sara changing getting a glimpse of the scars on her back.
She asks Sara about the scars and what happened and she tells her that she and Oliver had a motorcycle accident. Oliver enters telling the same story but Laurel grows suspicious and tells them she has to leave. She stops outside the hospital room door and goes through some flashbacks in her head making it seem like she may have put two and two together.
Oliver tries to get Thea to sign the papers for the accounts, but Thea doesn’t believe that she’s a Queen. She tells him that her life was finally getting on track, but she’s the daughter of two mass murderers so she will never be okay. She leaves and Diggle walks in telling him they have to talk about the security breach.
They go to the lair and Felicity tells them that Slade stole the Skeleton Key meaning he can now break into any place he wants. They now have to figure out where he may try to break into and decide to look at the next biggest place housing the most advanced technology.
They head to Star Laboratories, but they’re too late because Slade has already taken what he needed almost killing to lab workers who outsmarted him with this huge gun that electrocuted him. Oliver and Sara leave not realizing that they’re being followed by Laurel.
Diggle and Felicity go to the lab to try to get information from the two workers who Felicity previously met while visiting Barry in the hospital. They claim they can’t tell them what Slade stole since it was top secret. Felicity hacks into the system and figures out what Slade took telling the rest of the team it was a new technology, a Bio-tranfuser. Oliver decides to wait until Slade uses it since it will take a lot of his blood and that’s when Slade will be weakest. Felicity tells them that as soon as he uses it she’ll know because the machine will show up on the grid using a lot of energy.
Oliver confronts Isabel to find out where Slade is. She doesn’t tell him anything so he asks her if she even knows who Slade really is. She tells him that she got what she deserved and he tells her that she was just another girl his father messed around with. She reveals that they were supposed to run away together, but Thea got injured and he went to check on her. The next day her internship was terminated. She also revealed that his father knew Thea wasn’t his. Oliver tells her that she’s only doing this because his father chose his family over her.
Laurel meets with the Arrow to tell him that she knows why he’s been protecting her and who he is, but she gets a call from Sara about their dad who was attacked in prison by a prisoner upset with him and the Arrow for putting him in jail. Laurel arrives at the station and asks Sara to leave the room so she can talk to him alone.
She tries to tell him that she knows who the Arrow is but he stops her telling her that he doesn’t want to know because that would make him an actual person. Then the Arrow wouldn’t be able to be who he needs him to be; who the city needs him to be. He tells her to think about what he (Arrow) has to live with every day and how he must feel. For that he tells her that he could do a little time for him if that’s the only way to repay him.
Laurel goes to the District Attorney and demands that they drop the charges or she’ll resign and represent her father, suing them for wrongful arrest and endangerment. The DA gives in but warns her to choose her battles wisely because it won’t always be this easy.
Oliver meets with Thea to tell her about their father but he’s interrupted by Felicity who tells him the the machine came online. He goes to the site to find Roy hooked up to the machine and the prisoners Slade took hooked up to the machine as well. He goes to remove Roy, but Slade and Isabel show up. They tell him that they found him at a shelter and he didn’t even put up a fight. Slade tells him that Roy looked up to Oliver but that Oliver crushed him.
Slade tells him that removing Roy will kill him and that he’s not afraid of an arrow. Oliver shuts the machine down and tries to get Roy, but has to fight off Isabel and Slade, stopping him with explosives. As he’s trying to get Roy out of the machine Isabel gets up and goes to shoot him, but Diggle shoots her instead killing her (insert happy dance here).
They escape and get Roy back to the lair, but he’s lost a lot of blood so they have to wait it out. Oliver gives Felicity a vial of the Mirakuru that he took from the machine and tells them that they’re going to make a cure from it. They tell him it’s not possible, but he tells them that it is and Ivo had made one but instead of using it on Slade five years ago he decided to kill him making everything that’s happening now his fault.
Thea decides she’s going to move out despite Moira’s protests. Oliver shows up and tells them both that their father knew that Thea wasn’t really his but he chose to raise her as his own. Thea tells him that that just means he was a liar too and leaves. Felicity goes back to Star Laboratories and gives the serum to the two lab workers to work on a cure and tells them that this will be between them.
We end the scene with Slade getting up from the machine and we see that he revived Isabel by injecting her with the Mirakuru serum (insert mad stomping and shouting here).
Some takeaways…
– After that fight scene between Slade and Team Arrow at their lair, I’m sticking with my prediction that Slade is not going to die. He whooped all three of them without even breaking a sweat. Yea, I’m not seeing a good outcome from this. I’m pretty sure they’re going to get the anti-serum to work, but it’s going to be a ride seeing how this all turns out.
– I’m not sure how I feel about Laurel knowing about Oliver being Arrow. It looks like they’re going to do the whole ‘I know who you are, but I’m going to keep my mouth shut’ thing… I would rather she just came out and told him.
– I so wanted Isabel to die. Ever since she revealed that she’s been working with Slade I have wanted her to die. Now she has the serum in her and she’s Ravager, which means we have to see her for a little bit longer.
– Glad to see Roy back, but sucks that he’s pretty much comatose. I’m hoping when he wakes up he’ll be in a different mindset and willing to rejoin Team Arrow. I’m also hoping that he can speak some sense into Thea because she was riding on my nerves this episode as well. I know the scenes for next episode have Roy looking pretty crazy, but I’m still holding onto hope that he’ll gather all of his senses.
– I’m still sticking to my original predictions that someone is going to die (Sara) and Slade won’t die. You can hear more of my predictions on the most recent and special TV recap episode of Glam DEETS.
