SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I don’t even know how to preface this because I still don’t know how I feel about this episode. Read the recap below!
We start off where we left off last week with Cyrus listening to Fitz eulogy. Jake tries to call him, but he doesn’t answer so he goes to the White House to tell the president about the bomb. The church is evacuated and just as the last people are evacuating it goes off.
Leo thinks this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the situation and puts Sally to work helping the injured. Fitz goes to address the nation but news outlets have him on a split screen with Sally. Olivia tries to get them to put him on a full screen, but all outlets put Sally on a full screen cutting off the president’s speech.
Sally holds a press conference outside the church and Olivia tells Cyrus that they’ve pretty much lost the election. They tell Fitz the news and he doesn’t take it too well. Mellie definitely doesn’t take it well.
Olivia visits her father at the hospital and he’s doing much better. She tells him about the election and he tells her if he could help her he would. He tells her that even though he dislikes Fitz he loves her and he’d do anything for her. Then they share a sweet father-daughter moment.
Harrison convinces Adnan to let him free. He returns to OPA at the same time as Abby and they walk in on Huck and Quinn doing it in the office. Charlie finds out and moves out, but leaves her an envelope with information in it that will ruin their relationship.
Fitz tells Olivia that once he loses they can get married and move to Vermont. She tells him about Big Jerry raping Mellie. He goes to Mellie and tells her that he knows. She tells him that the paternity test proved Little Jerry is Fitz while he just holds her.
Quinn decides to take Huck to the house where his ex-wife and son are. Huck gets mad at her and tells her she shouldn’t have told him about them. She tells him that she told him because she loves him and he tells her never to speak to him again before walking off.
Fitz talks to Olivia before he goes out to give his final speech before the election and tells her that he can’t leave Mellie right now. She agrees, they sit on the phone for a minute then she hangs up. She returns to her father’s room and finds her mother. Maya tells her that she did this for her because Fitz was pretty much playing her and hurting her. At the same time we see Fitz go on the stage and as he’s talking Little Jerry starts sneezing and coughing up blood before passing out on the stage.
Little Jerry passes away from bacterial meningitis. Fitz finds out that he was actually murdered by Maya who stole a vial of the bacteria the previous day and used his son to get to him. Rowan makes his way to Fitz to talk to him and Fitz tells him about Maya. He tells Rowan that he wants Maya dead and Rowan tells him that what he wants, only he can give him. They agree and Olivia walks in and asks what’s going on. Fitz takes her to an empty room and tells her and she doesn’t take it too well.
Huck shows up at Olivia’s apartment distraught about his family. Olivia thinks he should go talk to them but he tells her that him being gone is what’s best for them. He then breaks down and cries as Olivia holds him. She then talks to her father over the phone after he admitted himself out of the hospital to try to find Maya. She asks him if the offer of the plane and new life still stands and she arranges to leave.
She tells Abby and Huck about her plans and Abby goes in on her, tell her that running away is not the answer. Olivia sticks to her decision and leaves them the keys. Harrison gets approached by Rowan and he tells him that Adnan is dead and Harrison is in over his head. He asks him to give him any information he may have and he does.
Jake shows up at Olivia’s apartment as she’s packing and tries to convince her toe stay. He then asks her to save him and take him with her.
Mama Pope is arrested outside of a bank after withdrawing money. Rowan tells Fitz that she’s been confiscated and killed. Fitz finally breaks down after winning the election from the weight of his son dying and finding out about his father raping Mellie. Harrison returns to OPA to celebrate, but they tell him the news about Olivia leaving. Harrison goes to Rowan to try to get him to stop her because the city needs her. He tells her the city will be fine without her and that he’s been reinstated as Command.
Instead of leaving, Harrison tells him that he figured it out that Rowan was the one who killed Little Jerry and Adnan. We see a flashback and find out that Tom helped by poking Jerry with his ring that was laced with the bacteria and shooting Adnan in the head. Rowan calls Tom into the room and tells Harrison that it’s true and we see Tom point a gun at him pretty much insinuating that Harrison is dead.
We then see a clip of Huck showing up at his family’s door and breaking down on the steps. We see that Jake left David all of his boxes filled with information about B613 and we see that Olivia took Jake up on his offer and they both board the plane to leave. Mellie tries to console Fitz but he wants Olivia. Mellie tries to call her, but Olivia ignores it. Jake asks her if she’s sure about that and she tells him she is. We end with Rowan returning to B613 adn the hole. They open it and we see that Mama Pope is actually alive and in it.
Some takeaways…
– This so felt like a series finale and not a season finale. We didn’t actually see Harrison die, so he could possibly be alive. I think they’re leaving it open because we all know that Columbus Short has been have some very public domestic issues with his wife. If he’s not dead, he’s probably going to have to work for B613 but I wouldn’t be surprised if tonight was the last we saw of him.
– I don’t know how I feel about how we ended. I’m glad that Jake and Olivia are together, but we know come next season Olivia has to return and when she does that will be the end of whatever transpires on the islands. I feel bad for Jake because I root for him so hard when we all know it’s set up for Olitz in the end… and you already know how I feel about that.
– I have no predictions for next season. I literally feel like my brain has been f-d with and I don’t know– I’m typing this totally confused. So yea…
