SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
So the final part of the finale… expectations were exceeded. See for yourself and check out the recap for the season two finale of Arrow below!
Thea thinks that Malcolm is dead, but he’s not. He tells her that he’s glad she shot him and that she’s stronger than she thinks and he can teach her, mold her. Thea tells him that he’s crazy. Back at the police station Laurel walks in on Sara talking to someone but they shoot her with a needle that knocks her out.
Oliver and team head back to the lair and decide to fill arrows with the serum when Sara shows up with Nyssa al Ghul who’s brought a lot of help. Oliver asks Roy how he’s doing and gives him a bow and arrow and tells him to remember his training. Oliver tells Nyssa that they’re going to do things his way and they head to Queen’s Consolidated to take down Slade. Roy calls Thea to make sure she’s okay and finds out she’s at the train station. He asks her to meet him at his apartment. She leaves Malcolm on the platform and he tells her that everyone she loves is a liar, including Roy, and when she needs him he’ll be there.
Oliver and crew show up at the business building and start taking “soldiers” down with serum filled arrows. He tries to get Slade, but he blocks every shot before escaping. They get a hold of Isabel and Sara is about to kill her but Oliver stops her. Isabel starts running off at the mouth and Nyssa snaps her neck (yes!!).
Back at the police station, Detective Lance finds Laurel passed out and wakes her up. She tells him that Laurel is with Nyssa right when a “soldier” shows up and knocks everyone out, throwing Quentin across the room, before snatching up Laurel.
Detective Lance shows up at the office building and tells them about Laurel, but Slade’s men plan to escape the city through a tunnel before the city is leveled by Amanda Waller. Nyssa says they need to go there to stop them and Oliver tells Detective Lance that the city comes first. He gets upset and tells him that his whole no killing thing needs to end today because he just may need to kill Slade to get through this and save Laurel.
Roy meets up with Thea and tells her that he doesn’t really remember anything that happened over the past few days, but he’s better and he loves her. He tells her that they’re going to leave the city, but gets a text that his help is needed. He tells her that he has to do this one thing or he wouldn’t feel right leaving, then he tells her that when he returns they’re leaving Starling City for good.
Oliver takes Felicity back to his house and tells her that she needs to stay there. She tries to fight him for a reason why she can’t come help and he tells her that Slade took Laurel because he believed she was the one he loved when he really loves Felicity (and this is when all of the Olicity fans went crazy).
Diggle and Lyla break the Suicide Squad out to help stop Waller and Oliver and crew start taking down the soldiers in the tunnel (amazing fight scene!). Waller tells her people to fire the drones just when Diggle, Lyla and crew show up. He tells her to stop but she drops a huge bomb on him telling him that Lyla is carrying his child.
Back in the tunnel Oliver gets a call from Slade telling him to meet him, but he tells him that he’s done playing his games. Slade tells him he’s done when he says he’s done and tells him that he actually has Felicity. Oliver goes to the meeting place and Slade has a sword against Felicity’s throat. He brings out Laurel and Oliver tells him that this isn’t what Shado would’ve wanted. He tells him that he’s so distracted by his delusions that he doesn’t even see the danger in front of him. Felicity sticks him with the anti-serum just as Sara shows up and shoots the “soldier”. This was all a setup since Oliver knew Slade had bugged his house.
Oliver tells her to get them out of there and he and Slade have an epic fight on the roof that mimics the one they had on the boat in the flashback on the island. He finally gets him bound to a pole and calls to Waller to stop the drones. She turns them back away from the city and Slade asks Oliver what happens now since he won’t kill him.
Sara leaves with Nyssa to fulfill her promise she made to return to the League of Assassins as her father and Laurel watch her leave. Quentin starts coughing up blood and Laurel realizes he’s been injured from when he was thrown at the police station and calls for help. Thea leaves Roy a note telling him that she’s leaving forever because she doesn’t trust anyone anymore after finding arrows under Roy’s bed. She gets in a limo with Malcolm and they drive off.
Oliver locks up Slade in an isolated jail underground and tells him that he’s not afraid of him attacking him or his family. He then thanks him for making him a hero since he was able to beat him without killing him. As he leaves, Slade shouts that he will fulfill his promise. Oliver comes above ground and we see that he’s back on the island with Diggle and Felicity.
He tells them that they’ll use that place to lock up any future villains they may encounter because there will be more. We get a little Felicity and Oliver moment. Diggle tells Oliver that he can fly back home and she asks how he learned to fly when he’d been stranded on the island for all of that time.
We get a flashback of Oliver waking up in a bed after passing out after his fight with Slade. He walks outside and meets Amanda Waller for the first time and she tells him that they’re in Hong Kong.
Some takeaways…
– We finally see how Sara “died” on the island, she was sucked into the ocean pretty much the same way she was the first time when the Queens Gambant blew up.
– I so wanted Oliver to kill Slade, but after hearing his reasoning at the end I’m okay with it. It does leave it open for Slade to show up again to cause havoc if he were to somehow escape.
– So many possibilities for next season which I love! You have no idea how giddy I was with the final scene because the flashbacks will now take us off the island and to another country/setting.
– I so kept saying that Sara was going to die but she didn’t. I’m okay with that since she’s back in the League, but does this mean that Laurel will eventually become Black Canary… I mean Sara did leave her her jacket. We shall see.
– We don’t know for sure if Quentin Lance is dead or alive. I’m hoping he’s alive because he adds so much to this whole dynamic. I’m also hoping that Roy plans to stick around and join Team Arrow for good because his archer skills were on point during that battle. Either way I can’t wait for next season!
