SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Welcome to the first recap of Hit The Floor! You guys voted for which Monday night summer show you wanted us to recap and here it is. It was full of drama as usual and I can’t wait to read what your thoughts were about this first episode. Check out the recap below!
Jelena quickly brings her back to reality and lets her know that she may have won that one title, but she hasn’t won the important thing… which we don’t really know what that is yet. Oscar has signed a new player, Zero and we find out that his agent Jude is actually Oscar’s son, but there’s something not quite father and son about their relationship.
Pete Davenport is still seeing Raquel who has just been put in charge of the Playground and their relationship heads into the next step which is a little more intimate than just kissing. Jelena pays Oscar a visit to try to get Sloane out, but Oscar quickly puts her in her place and tells her that her 10 percent ownership doesn’t mean anything and Sloane isn’t going anywhere. Jelena leaves, but warns him that he’ll regret hiring her.
Jelena runs into Terrence outside the stadium and they exchange a few words. She walks away but turns to say something else only to see him leaving with another girl. I mean that was quick, it’s only been a week Terrence. Anyway, German pays Pete a visit to tell him he plans to leave LA and follow his dreams and he doesn’t want him to get Asha involved. He just wanted to drop off his resume in hopes that Pete may pass it along to another team with a recommendation.
Derek approaches Asha about what she plans to do about her living arrangements making it clear that she can stay with him. She tells him that she’ll be staying with Kyle, to Kyle’s surprise. Lionel, Pete’s wife, shows up at his practice demanding to sit in his seat because she’s trying to get some publicity for her upcoming movie. He gives her one seat only and she leaves.
Jelena walks in on Zero weight lifting and he tries to use his charm on her, but she quickly shuts him down telling him to look at the team roster and see who her boyfriend is. He tells her that he knows and she’s actually Terrence’s ex-girlfriend. Kyle is helping Asha move in trying to convince her that she should stay with Derek. Asha doesn’t want to risk her job and also doesn’t want to invest time and emotion into Derek if he turns out to be the womanizer she believes he is.
They walk in to find a random guy on Kyle’s couch who tells her that her husband has left again for good and that he’s not his friend but his loan officer. Kyle tells him that she can’t track him down or help him and wishes him the best of luck, but he tells her that he’s there to see her because she has a reputation. She quickly rushes him out taking his number and promising to call him.
Chase meets with Oscar who tells him that he’s heard that Olivia plans to be at the groundbreaking. He tells him that if she does anything to jeopardize the day he will hold Chase accountable for it.
During a father and daughter run, Pete tells Asha about his marriage and then tells her about his meeting with German and him wanting to leave LA. He tells her that he wants to offer him an assistant coaching position and Asha tells him she’s completely okay with it. Jude shows up at the Playground and tells Raquel, to her surprise, that he’s Oscar’s son. She offers him a drink on the house and he then goes to Lionel at the bar to offer her a seat at the remaining Devil games for publicity. She tells him that her attendance at that night’s game is a one time thing, but he tells her to think about his offer.
At the game Sloane and Pete come to an agreement so their run-ins won’t be so awkward. She then runs into Lionel who has some words for her and tells her that she knows real reason why she returned to the Devils, but Sloane assures her there’s absolutely nothing between her and Pete.
The ladies hit the floor with a dance routine to Janet Jackson’s ‘If I Was Your Girl’. Following the performance Oscar congratulates Sloane on a great routine but then Jelena follows telling her she’s welcome. Sloane tells her to cut the bs and that she’s not Olivia. Jelena tells her that she knows that because Olivia knew how to do her job. She warns her that as soon as she messes up, because she will, she’ll make sure Oscar hears about it. She then accepts Zero’s date offer in front of Terrence to make him jealous.
In the Playground, Pete walks up to Lionel at the bar and they exchange words about the game before they’re interrupted by Raquel. Lionel quickly realizes that Pete and Raquel are sleeping together, but Pete denies it and walks away. Jude walks up to see where she stands on his offer, but she counters telling him that she’ll take him up on his offer if he can get rid of Raquel for sleeping with her husband or she’d cause raucous about it in the press.
Terrence sees his physical therapist who tells him that he needs surgery on his knee. He doesn’t want to risk it because he feels like this is his only shot at a championship ring. She tells him that there are no other options and if he doesn’t get the surgery he’ll blow his knee out, but he’s willing to risk it.
The loan officer guy (sorry didn’t catch his name) meets Kyle at her house and blackmails her into paying off her husband’s 350 thousand dollar debt with divorce papers signed by Benny. She reluctantly agrees to his terms of them working together and he decides that they’ll start with her list of high rollers (sort of kind of making him her pimp…).
German gets a package from Pete with game footage telling him to be at the gym on Monday making it clear that he’s been offered a position. Asha shows up at Derek’s house to break up with him but she tells him that she can’t and she wants to risk everything to see where their relationship leads.
At the groundbreaking, Jude tells Oscar that he has secured Lionel to show up for the entire season and that he’s taken care of making sure Olivia doesn’t show up even though Oscar didn’t ask for his help. Jelena continues to threaten Asha about getting her off the team. Asha tells her that she’s been trying to do that since she joined, but Jelena tells her that to get what you want you sometimes have to use the person someone loves the most to get to them.
Oscar goes up to the podium to start the groundbreaking. After a very quick speech he grabs the shovel and tries to dig up some dirt but he’s met with resistance. He moves some of the dirt out of the way and an arm is sticking out with a very large ring on the ring finger and he says Olivia’s name.
Some takeaways…
– So yea, totally didn’t see Olivia’s death coming. I have my suspicions as to who I think the killer may be and it’s between Chase and Jude.
– Totally saw the whole German becoming the assistant coach thing coming. I think it’s definitely going to make for more drama between him and Derek but I so want him to get over Asha because she’s clearly over him.
– Don’t really know how I feel about Zero yet. I’m not sure if his whole good boy thing is an act… if it’s not I really want him to run, run quickly away from Jelena’s clutches.
– I don’t know who the biggest bitch is now… Jelena or Lionel. I really don’t like her and if this was one of those shows where someone could possibly die every week I would totally be okay with her going next. I mean Raquel was finally catching somewhat of a break.
