As soon as the temps start to rise I start scouting the grocery store for this one fruit that instantly quenches my thirst with a whole lot of sweetness. I’m talking about watermelon! I’m almost embarrassed to disclose how much I’ve eaten this past month… like no joke.
I wanted to talk about this sweet, hydrating fruit and all of it’s benefits. Watermelon is anti-inflammatory and packed full of antioxidants. It helps reduce the accumulation of fat in our fat cells, promotes bone health, aids in cardiovascular health and is potassium-rich making it a natural electrolyte. But wait, it doesn’t end there. Watermelons have an alkaline-forming effect which helps reduce your risk of developing diseases and illnesses caused by high acid foods. Plus this fruit is super hydrating thanks to it’s high water content.
