SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
So this recap does not include a rant (amen) because this week’s episode eased some of my concerns from last week. We can get into my thoughts later, let’s just get into this recap.
Daniel and Margaux are a thing again. They talk about their respective goals for the next day and Daniel checks his phone and sees that he has several missed calls from Charlotte. David and Victoria break into a house to hideaway. Victoria plans to meet with her realtor to find a place for them and tells David that he can’t go because she doesn’t want anyone to find out that he’s alive.
Emily lies to the fire department about how she ended up in the Stowaway during the fire and tells them that no one else was inside when she got there. Nolan shows up at Emily’s house and tells her that her lungs are slightly damaged and she almost died of smoke inhalation. He also tells her that Victoria has surfaced but she tells him that she has something more important to deal with.
Victoria shows up at Daniel’s hotel and he’s not receptive because she thinks that she abandoned them. She tells him that she needs access to a hidden account that he may have but he tells her that there is no hidden account. She tells him that she’s going to put the family back together but he tells her it won’t happen. He also tells her about Charlotte’s drug habit before leaving and wishing her well until he sees her again in another six months.
Jack and Nolan go to the Stowaway to check out the damage. Jack is pretty down about the damage, but Nolan talks some words of wisdom and he starts to look for mementos. The man who Charlotte ran into when she was escaping the fire at the Stowaway shows up to apologize about saying no one else was inside. Jack asks him why he would say that and he tells him that that’s what the girl who ran out of the building said– the one who worked at the Stowaway the previous summer. Of course Jack knows who that is (Charlotte).
Louise Ellis shows up at Victoria and tells her that the doctor was fired and her files were reviewed; they determined that she was wrongfully admitted. Victoria tells her that she can’t help her and tells her to go see her mother. Louise Ellis tells her that she can help her but Victoria tells her no and that she’ll be in touch when things change.
Jack calls Emily to meet him at the Stowaway and asks her to tell him what really happened during the fire. She tells him that Charlotte asked her to meet her at the Stowaway and that she was ambushed. He asks her why she’s covering for her and she tells him that she’ll handle it. He doesn’t believe that she should let Charlotte get away with trying to kill her but she insists that she won’t change her statement.
Victoria goes to see Charlotte who is very emotional and tells her that Emily is really Amanda Clarke. She asks Victoria if she knew and she tells her that she suspected and that Emily will get what she deserved. Charlotte then tells her that she tried to kill Emily but she survived. Victoria tells her that she’ll protect her and that her father is alive.
Daniel meets with an old friend about trying to get back into the finance industry and finds out that no one wants to hire him because of who he is and his family’s reputation. Victoria takes Charlotte to meet David and of course it’s an emotional meeting but Victoria tells her that she can’t tell David that Amanda is really alive. Her plan is to make it seem like Emily spent her life trying to ruin them and that they’re the victims.
Emily tells Nolan that she’s going to try to get through to Charlotte because she’s to blame for what she’s going through. Nolan doesn’t think it’s a good idea but Emily believes that she can get through to her.
Victoria was very manipulative during Charlotte and David’s conversation, lying and saying that she was the one who exonerated him and was such a great inspiration. Charlotte tells her that the real her should be enough but Victoria tells her that she doesn’t see what she sees in her.
Emily shows up at Victoria’s hideout wanting to talk to Charlotte but Victoria won’t let her in and has her at gunpoint with a rifle. So she decides to talk to her through the window as Charlotte looks out and Victoria threatens to kill her. Emily tells her to do it and end it right now, but Victoria tells her that she’s not going to because it would be too easy and she owes her more than a quick death.
Emily walks back to her car to find Officer Ben searching her vehicle. He tells her that he thought the vehicle had been abandoned, then asks her what she was doing out in the middle of nowhere. She tells him that she just likes to take walks in the woods and he not so subtly tries to flirt with her but Emily’s not biting.
Daniel returns to his hotel suite to find that he’s been kicked out because his bill hasn’t been paid. They checked him out and packed up his stuff and tells him that he’s not a welcome guest anymore.
Emily tells Nolan about her run in with Victoria and tells him that she doesn’t know what Victoria has planned because she can’t see the entire picture. She believes Victoria knows something that she doesn’t and Nolan tells her that he’s going to crash at her place for awhile to help keep an eye on things.
Victoria tells David about Emily stopping by and that she’s just out to ruin her family. She tells him that she needs to leave because they need to find another place to stay. He wants to go but she insists that he stay with Charlotte. After she leaves, David goes through his things and pulls out his killing knife then leaves.
Jack stops by Emily’s house give her a picture of them as kids. They reminiscence about the past and she tells him that she’ll keep it until he rebuilds the Stowaway. He tells her that he doesn’t think he wants to rebuild and that his dad never wanted him to have the bar, have that life. She asks him what he’s going to do and he tells her that he doesn’t really know but that he needs to say goodbye to the Stowaway to make more room for other important things in his life.
Daniel is getting drunk at a bar when Louise Ellis shows up yelling on the phone about investments. She tells him that her portfolio is being sold by her financial investor. This peaks Daniel’s interest and he sits to talk with her. Meanwhile, Victoria goes to see Margaux to pretty much try to get sympathy and money from her. Margaux tells her that she didn’t know things were so bad and offers to write her a check.
Nolan is watching the surveillance cameras as David sneaks in to kill her. David goes into her room and is about to kill her but he hesitates because she seems familiar. Nolan walks in and startles him and Nolan fires a shot at him, screaming to wake Emily up. David escapes before they see who he is and Emily asks Nolan if he saw anything. He just tells her that all he saw was a man in a hoodie with a knife.
Some takeaways…
– I’m not going to lie, I was actually tuned all the way in during this episode. I had a few laughs, I cursed Victoria (and Charlotte) out a few times and I just overall enjoyed this episode. That’s a lot coming off of last week’s episode when I wanted this series to pretty much end. I’m still not okay with how Victoria is trying to turn Emily’s father on her but everything is seeming to flesh itself out.
– I don’t see it for Margaux and Daniel and I hate that it seems like they’re trying to force this relationship on us… please stop.
– I also realized while watching this that I pretty much dislike all of the women this season except for Emily. Victoria is so manipulative and there is nothing that can ever make me side with her– she’s a bitch. Charlotte is too freaking emotional and unpredictable– and she’s been that way since Declan’s death. Margaux is just unbelievable and unlikeable– really Margaux you’re a smart girl, you didn’t catch Victoria’s game?
– I am so glad that they are not going to drag Emily and David’s reunion out for an entire season. From the previews it looks like Emily is going to find out that her father is still alive and I hope she also realizes what Victoria was really up to so that they can both team up and bring her down once and for all… and end the series (hey, I’m standing by my opinion that this should be the final season).
