SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I haven’t screamed at the screen during Scandal in awhile but last night… Let’s just get into the recap and my thoughts below!
Fitz has Jake in lock down and has his man questioning him 24/7. Cyrus tries to convince him to let his men rest but they don’t have any new information. Fitz wants a confession but Cyrus tells him that they may need to handle things a little differently but Fitz wants to do things legally just in case they have the wrong person.
Rowan shows up to Olivia’s house with wine needing company. She tells him that she hasn’t heard from Jake in awhile and Rowan plays it off like he doesn’t know where he is. Rowan suggests that she needs to let him do his thing and she opens up and tells him that she doesn’t know if she’s being over dramatic or if something really happened to Jake.
Jake is being interrogated and hasn’t eaten or drank anything in 72 hours. He tells the interrogator that he won’t eat or drink until he speaks to the president and tells him to stop talking. The interrogator keeps talking as Jake thinks about him and Olivia on the beach and pulls the interrogator’s chair in with his foot before kicking him away. The interrogator freaks out and calls for the guards.
Mellie is stilling laying around in her dirty pajamas getting drunk. Fitz asks her why doesn’t she leave and she tells him it’s because Jerry is thatere, he’s four miles away.
Olivia interrupts Jeremy’s lunch to ask him about Kubiack but he tells her that he doesn’t know anything about it. We find out that Jeremy did meet with Kubiack and knows that he killed his daughter and her friend. Olivia threatens Jeremy and tells him that if she finds out he had anything to do with the murders she’ll take him down.
Olivia calls Huck about checking to see where Jake is but Huck is staking out his ex-wife’s house. We find out that she doesn’t believe that he left to protect them and she tells him he needs to leave and never come back.
Quinn figures out that Kubiack lured Faith to meet him because she has “the key”. Huck updates on Olivia on Jake’s whereabouts and finds out that his last known location was at the White House. She calls Fitz and asks him if Jake came to see him. Fitz hesitates and she asks what’s going on and if he has Jake but Fitz hangs up. Olivia tries to call Cyrus but he ignores her. Olivia then calls Abby to find out what’s going on and Abby tells her that she doesn’t take orders from her anymore.
Fitz decides to go to the Pentagon himself to get an update on Jake. Fitz tells Jake that he needs to eat and he does and then he tells him that he’s going to sign his confession. Jake tries to tell him that he’s been investigating Rowan since he returned and he realizes that Fitz knows he left with Olivia and that he’s pretty much screwed. Fitz wholeheartedly believes that Jake killed his son but Jake believes he’s a good guy and name drops Olivia telling him that Olivia believes he’s a good guy and that’s why she loves him. He tells him again that he didn’t kill his son, Fitz grabs him up then walks out of the room.
Huck is back at his ex-wife’s, Kim, house who’s livid that he’s back. He tells her that he just wants to see his son and then he’ll go away. She asks if he can come back that night and he agrees. Mellie goes to the Oval Office to meet Fitz so that they can go to Jerry’s grave but he’s not there. She pretty much threatens his assistant to find out where he is.
Quinn figures out that Faith swallowed the key and tells Huck her theory as he’s wrapping his gift for his son. Quinn breaks into the morgue and cuts open Faith’s body to find the key… which she finds. Meanwhile Huck goes to see his son and it’s a setup. Kim has a psychologist there and Huck freaks out and chokes the doctor up telling Kim that he told her the truth and she lied to him.
Cyrus shows up at Olivia’s house and tells her that Jake is being held at the Pentagon because he murdered Jerry and Harrison. Olivia doesn’t believe Jake did it and that her father is behind it. Cyrus tells her that he did and once he confesses they’re going to kill him.
Olivia confronts Rowan telling him that she knows he set Jake up. He tells her that he had nothing to do with Jake killing Harrison and blames Olivia for killing Jerry; still putting the blame on Jake. She asks why he didn’t tell her and he tells her that he thought she was safe and knew Jake loved her and that he only wants to see her happy.
Quinn goes to Huck to tell him about the key but he’s upset. She asks him whats wrong and he tells her about Kim and how he told her the truth but she doesn’t believe her. Fitz returns to his office to find a drunk Mellie eating chips. She believes that he was gone screwing Olivia and he tells her that he was at the Pentagon trying to get a confession from their son’s killer. He tells her that they have to stop doing this to each other and she tells him to tell her what really happened to Jerry. He tells her that he was poisoned but that he can’t give her details on who the killer is at the moment.
He apologizes and tells her that he never wanted her to know but she tells him that knowing helps. He tells her that Jerry was killed because he was the president and Mellie says his death was meaningful. Fitz doesn’t quite take it well and she tries to explain it saying that it was like he was a soldier, a warrior and that he died for them so that they could stay in the White House. Fitz gets upset and tells her that until she becomes the Mellie he recognizes she’s done talking. He kicks her out and tells her never to come back into his office or mention his son to him again.
Abby walks into her office to find a drunk David. She tries to kick him out but he tells her he needs to talk. He tells her that he killed someone with the B613 files and that he only used them because for once he wanted to win. Abby realizes that he’s really not taking it well and he tells her that he killed someone trying to be Olivia Pope and asks why is everyone trying to be Olivia Pope.
Abby goes to Olivia’s house and confronts her, blaming her for turning David bad and that she’s a bad person. Olivia starts crying and Abby asks her what’s wrong and she tells her about Jake killing Harrison and Jerry and Abby comforts her.
In the ending montage Mellie takes off her dirty clothes and takes a shower. Fitz goes back to see Jake and starts asking him if he killed Jerry and everytime Jake says no Fitz punches him but Jake turns it towards Olivia and taunts him as Fitz gets even more angry and punches him to a bloody pulp.
Some takeaways…
– Y’all know how I feel about Jake and Fitz is a bonafide salty bitch. Sorry, but it had to be said. He’s obviously upset about Jake being with Olivia and that’s clouding his judgement. I’m glad to see from the previews that Abby is hopefully going to call him out and I can’t wait to see how that plays out.
– We all know that Rowan is evil– this is nothing new. I’m kind of mad that Olivia was that quick to have doubt in Jake, like girl you know who your daddy is… And Rowan, don’t get me started. He is a bonafide liar– heartless and someone needs to take him down.
– Abby has been so flippant this season and when she first walks in and sees David in her office and starts to go in I wanted to punch her. I’m hopping and I have a strong feeling that she’s going to redeem herself next week.
This episode definitely got my blood pressure up. Let me know your thoughts below!
