SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Things are starting to heat up and I’m excited about what is possible to come. Read the recap below!
Quinn stops by Mr. Winslow’s house, Caitlin’s father, and tells him that she knows why his daughter died and asks him why he lied about the meeting and what does it all have to do with Olivia. He tells her she can’t stop what’s coming and he can’t help her before shooting himself in the head.
Senator Lewis McDonnell has a viral video out which shows him drunk and literally shitting himself. Fitz already has someone to replace him and it’s Charles Putney, Abby’s ex-husband.
Huck is still playing games with Javie and Javie believes he’s another kid and wants to meet after school to play together. Olivia is freaking out trying to get in touch with David while Huck and Quinn believe they shouldn’t tell her aout everything that’s going on with the Winslow case. Abby calls Olivia after throwing up after seeing her ex-husband and she comes to her rescue with clean dresses.
Abby doesn’t want Fitz to know about Charles beating her while they were married but Olivia tells her she can’t bottle up her emotions. She then asks her what she wants and Abby tells her that this is one situation she can’t handle but she tells her she can. Olivia goes to Virgina to meet with Charles opponent, Susan Ross, to help turn her campaign around. She offers to run her campaign free of charge and Susan, slightly confused, agrees.
OPA rework her image and look for dirt on Charles to dirty his campaign. Leo stops by Abby’s office to ask her what’s the history is between her and Charles. They’re interrupted by news of a car bombing outside the Embassy. Cyrus knows Michael is using him and places false information in his ear and monitors if Lizzie will say anything about it. Lizzie pays Mellie a visit to talk foreign policy and how Mellie can help shape it.
Olivia finally gets hold of David and she wants him to get her into Super Max. He tells her he can’t do it and she can’t just waltz in there. He realizes she’s already got her meeting set up and it’s not with Jake, but with Tom.
She informs Tom that the meeting is off the books and he starts off a little creepy telling her about how beautiful she is. She interrupts him and he stops her and asks him why she left Fitz since she has such a whole over him. He tells her that she doesn’t have a father, she has Command and he’s been raising her since she was little. She asks him who ordered her to kill the president’s son and he tells her about the time that Fitz stopped by her apartment while she was gone. About how hurt he was and how he made this gut wrenching sound. He tells her that he could protect the president from everyone but her.
He tells her that she’s beautiful but it’s behind her eyes and they all love her She stops him and tells him that her father will have him killed because he’s a loose end but she can protect him he just needs to tell her who ordered him to kill the president’s son. He tells her Jake Ballard and she tells him to watch his back before leaving.
Susan is bombing the television ad for her campaign so they decide to use her daughter who ends up being a pro in front of the camera. Cyrus is upset about Susan’s new ad and tells Charles he needs to get out there and make sure Fitz didn’t make the wrong decision choosing him. Charles confronts Abby in the parking lot, a clear douche, and tries to come on to her and tells her to call off Olivia. Abby pulls out a gun and tells him that she will shoot him and she’ll tell everyone about what he did to her while they were married. He gets the picture and leaves.
Fitz calls Olivia and gives her a complete update on Jake’s eating habits and activities. She tells him that she went to Super Max to talk to Tom and that he told her that Fitz tried to kill himself. Fitz doesn’t answer and tells her that he wants to discuss what hope means. He tells her to come to the White House and prove she’s not a liar. He then goes on to tell her every nasty little thing he’d do to her and hangs up after she asks him what he’d do next and he answers by telling her it depends on how much hope there is.
Huck goes to the arcade where Javie is waiting for him (who he thinsk is a kid) and watches him through the window reminescing on his birth. Leo tells Abby that Susan has been lying about being a widower and that the Republicans will care about her lying. She tells him about her repaced teeth and broken collar bone and how Charles did that to her.
A guard goes down to Tom’s cell with a message from Command. The guard does a series of quick moves and Tom falls to the ground bleeding from the chest.
Huck and Quinn bring the pictures of Olivia to her and tell her everything, including Mr. Winslow killing himself. Meanwhile, Mellie takes Lizzie’s bait and mentions the USS Roosevelt during a television appearance which Cyrus told Michael. Leo tells Abby that Charles resigned because of leaked information and Susan would be the next senator. They share a drink and then a kiss.
Fitz confronts Mellie about her interview and she tells him that the real Mellie back which is what he wanted. His phone rings and Mellie answers and it’s Olivia. She gives him the phone and leaves. She meets with him in the Oval Office with a recorded confession from Tom telling her that Rowan ordered him to kill Fitz’s son. She tells him that she got the confession because she played Tom like her father would.
Little Javie, like daddy like son, tracked Huck down by his GPS and knows that he’s his father and wants to know why he left. We end with Jake being let out of Super Max and into a room where Olivia and Fitz are waiting.
Some takeaways…
– I’m just ready for next week’s episode. From the preview it looks like we’re finally going to get into the good stuff and take down Rowan! I’m so excited because he has gotten away with A LOT since we found out who he is. I cannot wait.
– I still don’t care about Olitz and I never will. We could totally lose the whole Olitz angle and I would not miss it.
-I’m going to make one prediction and that is that I believe Rowan is dying this season. It will happen either during the mid season finale or the season finale, I personally don’t think they should drag it out that long. Rowan has served his purpose, overstayed his welcome and now it’s time for him to be taken down.
Do you think Rowan will survive this season? Let me know in the comments below!
