SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
This was the episode that ABC had been promoting the heck out of for the past week and boy did it surpass my expectations. I went in with low hopes and a chip on my shoulder and I have to say that this was my favorite episode of the season… possibly the entire series… possibly. Read the recap below!
Daniel is looking at his wedding photos of Emily when he’s interrupted by Margaux who tells him that she has plans to meet with Louise. He tells her that he doesn’t think he’s going to work with her anymore but she tells him that they’re a powerhouse and they’re in it together.
Jack calls Emily and tells her about the double infinity that he and Ben found in at the garage. He tells her about Ben’s investigation and if she knows anything about how the symbol got there. He’s interrupted by Ben and finds out that David is there to apologize about not mentioning him during his outing of Nolan. Jack tells him he needs to apologize to Nolan and how he had been there for Amanda when no one else was. He asks him who else was close to Amanda.
Daniel pays Victoria a secret to find out what her plan is when David finds out she’s been trying to turn him against his daughter. He tells her that he doesn’t want to be caught in the crossfires and she tells him that he needs to worry about Emily who will be the one to drag him into it. He tells her that won’t be the case because he plans to get to her first.
Thanks to Jack, David pays Emily a visit wanting to meet her since she was a close friend of Amanda and Carl’s godmother. She tells him that Amanda never stopped thinking about him and he tells her that he wishes he could see her for just a moment. He tells her that Victoria told him Amanda was a little off but she tells him that Victoria isn’t a credible source. She then tells him about the baby shower Victoria threw and how there was an argument between her and Amanda and Amanda ended up in a pool of blood.
Emily goes to Nolan who watched the entire exchange upset because David didn’t recognize her or have one memory of her while she spent the past few years trying to avenge his name. Nolan gives her the information for the key and they leave to investigate.
Margaux and Louise have a spa day and Louise tries to get into her head about how Victoria might see her. Margaux tells her that Victoria was in love with her father so they will be bonded forever. Louise leaves and has a conversation with her mother in her head who convinces her that she needs to do something about Margaux, so she locks her in the sauna with the steam dangerously high. Margaux realizes she’s locked in and bangs for help. She breaks off the handle and bursts through the glass door.
Victoria meets with the woman who purchased a lot of the items from the Grayson estate sell, specifically looking for her horse which held valuable jewelry. Back at the spa, Margaux is causing a scene about the sauna when Nolan shows up and tells her that he doesn’t appreciate how he was outed in her publication. The manager tells her that the only way the door can lock is if someone uses a small pin to engage it.
Emily is at the bank to get into the vault that the key goes to– she gets on the elevator when Daniel shows up. He tells her he’s been tracking her and stops the elevator. After putting him in a choke hold, he tells her that if she starts the elevator he’ll tell everyone her secret that she’s really Amanda. He tells her that he found out from Charlotte and only wants her assurance that when things with David explode nothing lands on him. She agrees and tells him he never crossed her radar. She goes to start the elevator again when the power shuts off.
Ben and Jack show up at Vince’s place ,the guy who Charlotte accidentally killed, and find his boy along with lots of newspaper clippings related to the Graysons. They also find David’s knife and Ben believes he’s the one who killed Conrad since it matches the possible murder weapon. Back in the elevator, Emily is trying to break out of through the ceiling while Daniel grills her about why she chose him to infiltrate his family. He asks her if any of it real, even the wedding and she tells him that there may have been a moment when it could’ve been real but once he aligned himself with his father it was all over. She escapes through the ceiling as Daniel looks on with a priceless smirk on his face just as he receives a call from Margaux telling him Louise locked her in the sauna.
David visits Amanda’s old job, the strip club, to talk to Crystal. He asks her about the altercation Amanda had with Victoria at the baby shower. She tells him that it was all a misunderstanding and that she slipped. He seems to believe everything she said and leaves and Crystal goes to a table where Victoria is sitting and she gives her the jewelry she took from the horse stature for lying to David.
Nolan stops by the bar where Louise is and tells him that she knows of him from all of the press. She tells him not to worry about the press, it’ll die soon and invites him onto her yacht but he declines due to a storm coming. Due to the storm, the club closes early and Nolan offers to buy the club from the owner who agrees.
Jack isn’t happy about the apparent Conrad killer setup. He calls Emily and leaves her a message for her to call him back because he’s not happy about how things are shaping up. Emily goes through the the files on the USB and realizes it contains photos from when Amanda was alive.
David returns to the beach house and apologizes for doubting Victoria while Emily is very upset after finding the photos on the drive. Meanwhile, Daniel tells Margaux that they need to not rush to blame Louise for locking her in the sauna. She asks him what leverage does she have over him and realizes he slept with her.
Back at the beach house, David notices the earrings that Victoria went back to the horse statue to get and we find out it was a gift from him to her. Out of nowhere Emily bursts through the sliding doors angry. Victoria tries to stop her but she tells her to get out of her way. She throws the pictures of Fauxmanda on the table and tells David that if he had been tracking her she would’ve known. She tells him about all of the things he taught her and he realizes that Emily is really Amanda. Their moment of realization is interrupted by Victoria who gets shocked by an electrical wire while trying to escape and David runs after her to see if she’s okay but Emily is pissed.
Some takeaways…
– OMG. OMG. OMG. Y’all don’t even know how much I did not see this coming. I was so sure that they were going to drag this story line out at least until the mid-season finale. The way Emily stormed into the beach house and kicked Victoria out– yessss! I cannot wait. Like I don’t even care about anything else, I just want to see how this all play out because from the previews it doesn’t look like things are going to go smoothly for David and Emily.
– If I’m to be honest, this was my favorite episode. Not only because of David and Emily reuniting, but I also loved the scene between Emily and Daniel. Is it bad that I kind of sort of want them to get back together. I just loved the look on Daniel’s face when Emily escaped out of the elevator. Hopefully we’ll see more of them together because this was the first time we’ve seen them really interact since the whole marriage fiasco.
– I don’t know what exactly Nolan is going to do now with him buying the yacht club, but I do know that David owes him an enormous apology. Other small bits– I kind of wanted Margaux to die in the sauna and I’m still not here for Louise Ellis and her delusional behind.
Did you freak the f out when Emily told David who she really was? Let me know in the comments!
