SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
It was a long break– not really… but we’re back in the homestretch before the mid-season finale. If you saw one of the last scenes and you’ve followed my tweets for other shows then you know how upset I am about the turn one of the story lines took. Get into the recap and my opinions on this episode below!
Meanwhile, Emily gets more aggressive with her hostage until he gives her his partner’s name who, Pete Dunn, who handled all of the business. Jack and Kate are going in to question Pete at the station but they find him dead from hanging himself. Emily meets Jack at the precinct to get more information about the guys who attacked David and he tells her about the suicide. She asks him if he’s sure about the suicide and he realizes that she’s involved.
Nolan cozies up to Louise and finds out a little more about her family and Louise insinuates that there’s more surrounding her father’s death. He relays the info to Margaux and tells her to look into Louise’s father’s death. Margaux returns to her office to find a repentant Daniel with breakfast and she tells him that she still believes they shouldn’t be together. Daniel tries to plead his case but she dismisses him.
David visits Nolan to apologize but Nolan is still upset. David tells him that he believes that Emily won’t stay out of it and Nolan tells him that he will always look after and that’s not something he has to worry about. He asks him if he’s spoke to her recently and he tells her him that he hasn’t. David tells him that he knows her better than he does and Nolan gets suspicious.
Daniel returns to his room to find Victoria there who tells him that she still has David and she doesn’t think there will be any blowout. She tells him that she’s willing to do anything, include be Emily’s stepmother, if that what it takes. Daniel tells her that he’s not going to fall in line and that the truth will come out eventually and when it does David will choose Emily. Victoria tells him that she may have lost everyone else but she won’t lose David.
Emily calls Ben and takes him up on the date and they go out for drinks. She tries to get information about the Conrad case but finds out that he has been taken off of it and Jack has been working with the feds. Meanwhile, Victoria meets with Alvarez to find out more information about the hospital attack. She finds out that Conrad’s murderer has died and David kept it from her. Alvarez tries to come onto Victoria offering his “protection” but she turns it down and he tells her that he just wants to make sure she doesn’t end up in the wrong place at the wrong time again before leaving. She then gets on the phone and calls someone asking them to find out more information about Vince.
Nolan goes up to Louise at the bar and she’s pissed because she knows that he’s working with Margaux who contacted her brother asking about her father’s death. She doesn’t understand why he’s working with her and he tells her it’s complicated. She tells him that she’s been trying to keep her past in the past and now this one story could ruin that. She tells him that he treats his friends like family but she now knows where she stands before leaving.
Victoria confronts David about keeping information about Conrad’s murderer from her. They get in an argument which leads to her keeping Amanda from him and not visiting him in jail. She tells him the date that they were supposed to leave and how she’s never forgot and begs him to ask her and they can leave, but he tells her that he won’t go anywhere without his daughter.
Jack thinks that Pete may not have committed suicide but Kate has been called back to Washington because there’s not much of a case left for her to stay there. She invites him to her room but he turns her down. She goes off on a spiel to pretty much coax him into coming to her room.
David is in the woods digging when he reveals a safe. From a flashback we learn that it was money he and Victoria stole from Conrad to stash away for their getaway. He opens it and all of the money is still there and he stashes a flash drive. He then goes to Nolan and tells him that he’s leaving town. He gives him the directions and code to the safe and wants him to release the contents to the media if anything happens to him. Nolan asks him to tell him what’s really going on if he wants his help. David tells him that he had been captured by Michael Black and had been in Canada where he was making him launder money for him with the threat of hurting Amanda. He tells him that he now has evidence to protect himself and needs to let Michael Black know that. Nolan tells him about Emily’s hostage situation and that he put a tracker on him through water. He gives him the guy’s whereabouts.
Emily goes to the tennis club looking for Nolan but runs into Daniel who tells her that they didn’t work because they are the same person. He tells her that he “sees her”. He’s obviously drunk and tells her about his situation with Margaux. She tells him that she’s not going to be his friend and tell him to go fight for her and that she sees him too. She gets up to leave but he stops her and tells her that she really does look pretty which means she must be up to something. He tells her that he fells sorry for the guy especially if he wears his heart on his sleeve because she’ll hurt him.
David follows the hostage to the airport and tells him to get a message to Michael Black and if he doesn’t he will find him until he does. Victoria finds out that Vince was hired by Malcolm Black and he’s after money. She gives him a photo of Emily and writes “The daughter? is Emily Thorne” (I rewound and paused this but could not read the second word, I think it said daughter but I could be wrong) and tells him that she trusts he’ll get it in the right hands and keep hers clean.
Margaux calls Nolan about getting the information on Louise and he tells her that she knows he’s working with her. He tells her that he’s out and she’s on her own. She tells him that their deal on clearing his reputation is off and he tells her that he only cares about what his friends think of him. She tells the magazine to run the story anyway and Daniel shows up to fight for her since Emily told him he doesn’t fight for anything. Margaux tries to argue him down but Daniel won’t back off and she reveals that she’s pregnant.
Victoria asks David for the truth and he decides to tell her where he’s really been for ten years and tells her about Michael Black. Emily pays Ben a visit at the basketball court to apologize for using him. She tells him that she had someone too but she lost him.He asks her what she’s not good at and she tells him dating. He asks her what she wants to know about Alvarez and she asks about the people who attacked David. She tells him that she doesn’t think the guy committed suicide and that Alvarez may be involved. Ben tells him that he’s not and the only ones who had access to the room was Alvarez and the feds.
We see Kate in her room and she gets the message that Victoria sent just as Jack knocks on her door and they get to doing the do.
Some takeaways…
– Okay, so I’m confused, again– which is not unusual when it comes to this show. So Kate is now involved… who exactly does she work for and does Victoria know her personally or what. If she killed the Pete guy I would assume that she works for Michael Black right? So now poor Jack is tangled up with a pyscho once again, I mean can the guy get a break like seriously.
– I do not like Margaux and I do not like Louise. Y’all already know my deal with Louise so I’m not going to go there but I’ll refresh you on my beef with Margaux. She was not needed when we were introduced to her and she turned into a main character who is now pregnant and will be around until someone kills her off… or the series ends. I hate pregnancy story lines in shows like this, I just feel like it’s a cop out. As much as I love the idea of Emily and Daniel I know that’s not a possibility, especially after how he acted during the last season. I honestly feel like the pregnancy story line was a way to ensure that Daniel and Margaux as a couple is embedded in the viewer’s brain. Seriously people we don’t need another baby that we’ll rarely see. Where is baby Carl? We never, if ever, see him we just get a line about him every once in a while. Note to writers, keep the babies out of this show– they’re an inconvenience.
– Victoria is a bitch. I say this every week of every season but she just solidifies how much of an evil person she is. She pretty much handed Emily, David’s daughter, over to potentially dangerous people and she doesn’t care. I honestly don’t think Victoria is capable of love. I think she has an idea of love but doesn’t know how to feel it. You just can’t be that evil and love anyone… not even your children.
– From the previews it looks like someone is going to die. As much as I would like for it to be Victoria I don’t think that will happen. So with that being said, I’d like for Margaux or Louise to die, more so Margaux because I think Louise will self destruct and end up in the nut house. You guys already know my reasons for wanting to kill off Margaux.
