SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
We’re still trying to save Olivia and everyone is going all in to do it. Read the recap below!
Fitz tells Mellie that Olivia could be anywhere but she assures him that he’ll get her back. Cyrus comes in and tells them that they will now be protected by the Navy Seals terminating his entire secret service staff. He also has Fitz sign the a resignation letter for Andrew which would force him to resign. Fitz tells Cyrus to call a meeting with his intelligence team, along with Jake, so they can get in on the auction for Olivia.
One of Ian’s men, Gus, thinks he may not be thinking straight and is going against the plan he origianally made. Ian tells him that Olivia is apart of their team. Andrew calls to check on things but .. tells him he’s no longer in charge. Andrew insists that he returns her because he has to get her back to the president unharmed but Ian tells him he has his own plans.
His men launch the auction on the “Dark Net” which you can only access if you’ve been invited. In order to get in the president and his team decide to use terrorist to participate in the auction for him because he can’t be seen publicly negotiating with terrorist. Huck believes Olivia is going to die but Jake thinks they should pool all of their money together and try to save her alone. Quinn doesn’t think it’s a good idea because they need like millions and millions dollars but Huck reveals he has over two billion dollars. Jake realizes he’s talking about the algorithm and Huck tells him that he transferred the money to himself as “back pay” for his time in the hole.
Olivia tells Ian that the auction has to start at at least 1.5 billion dollars and he agrees. As they’re shaking on it Gus leaves the room, comes back and shoots Ian in the head telling them that he’s in charge now just as the bids start rolling in. One of the hacker guys starts freaking out but the other reassures him that everything will be okay. Gus returns to the room and wipes Ian’s blood from her face eluding that he might take advantage of her but she pretty much tells him she’ll bite off anything that comes close to her mouth.
Cyrus brings the resignation letter to Andrew and tells him he needs to sign it or go to prison. Andrew refuses and tells him that if he goes to prison he’s taking Fitz and Cyrus with him. Cyrus takes the news back to Fitz who tells him that he didn’t go to war for Olivia but because of the assassination attempt on the vice president. He tells Cyrus that they need to prove that Andrew faked the assassination attempt and mislead the country to war.
Cyrus pays Lizzie, who looks to be packing, a visit and tells her that she can’t leave the country because he has her on every watch list. She asks what she wants and he tells her that she’s going to testify against Andrew and pretty much be his “little bitch”. Andrew realizes that they plan to use Lizzie against him and threatens Mellie telling her that if Lizzie testifies he’ll tell the country every dirty detail about their affair.
At OPA Huck tells them that there is no way he can find the auction and they’re not getting in. The only way they can get in is if they have an all-star terrorist and Jake knows just who to go to– Mama Pope.
Jake and Quinn go to see her, with assistance from David, and he tells them they have ten minutes. They tells her what’s going on and she tells them that if she gives them something then she needs something in return. Jake tells her to be reasonable but everything she asks for David immediately shuts down. Quinn suggests a flat screen television with basic cable and both David and Maya agree. She tells them to use her alias Marie Wallace.
Maya sets up a meeting with Gustavo who actually turns out to be an idiot who thinks he’s there to buy coke from Huck and Jake. She tells them that Gustavo will help them get into the auction if they kill the guys so Huck takes care of it. Jake believes Huck is taking too long and goes in to check on him. He finds Huck in the middle of a literal blood bath about to cut off one of their heads. Jake stops him and tells him he’ll do it and to go clean up.
Over with Liv, she tries to get into the hacker’s heads and tells them that they don’t belong there and don’t deserve what’s going to happen to them. She tries to convince them that they have potential and their entire lives ahead of them and asks him which one they think he’ll kill first. They believe Gus needs them but she tells them Gus will kill them as soon as the auction is over. She refers to the auction as proof of how powerful she is and tells them she can protect them. She asks them to throw the auction, hand her over the the United States and she’ll make sure they don’t go to jail and are safe. One of them tells her that those weren’t his dreams, he dreamed of money and he’s going to let the odds play in his favor… the other one agrees.
Abby is updating Fitz on her communications in regards to the war but he can tells she’s distracted. He asks her what’s going on and she tells him that she’s worried about Liv since she hasn’t heard from her in awhile. He sits her down and tells her what’s going on. She goes to David highly upset that he knew about Olivia and kept it from her. He tells her that it was a national security matter, which does not concern her because she didn’t have a right to know. She thinks he’s being facetious because of their breakup and that she’s her only friend and she couldn’t be there for her because she didn’t know and she’s not a gladiator anymore. David pours them both a drink and tells her that Olivia is not her only friend.
Fitz finds Mellie on the balcony and they have a drink. He tells her that his men are pretty confident they’ll have Olivia back withing 24 hours. She tells him that they have to let Andrew walk or he’ll tell the country she slept with him and America will never forgive her, a woman, for one infidelity. She asks him what he wants more than anything in the world and he tells her that he wants Jerry alive again. She asks him what he wants that feels possible and he tells her he wants Liv home safe. He asks her what she wants and she tells him that she wants to be the president of the United States and run the world. He tells her that Andrew walks then.
Jake finds Quinn in Harrison’s old office and tries to talk to her about Huck. She tells him that he’ll be fine and that his behavior is because Olivia is gone but he’ll pull himself back. Jake tells her this is different and he’s never seen anything like this ever. She tells him again that he’ll be fine when Huck enters and tell them that Gustavo’s password worked but he has to create a digital footprint for Marie Wallace. Once he does that they finally get into the auction. The bid is just over a billion dollars when people start dropping out and then the auction just disappears.
Gus wakes Olivia up and tells her that she’s been sold and the buyers came to him directly with cash so he suspended the auction. She asks him who won and he tells her Iran because she hit him in the head and killed his friend. Cyrus goes to Fitz room with a red folder to wake him and tells him that he’s needed in the Situation Room. There he finds out that Iran won the auction and he wants them to extract her but his team is against it and suggest that they neutralize the asset.
At OPA Jake and Quinn are trying to figure out who bought her but Huck tells them that it doesn’t matter. They bought a person to use as a tool against the president to control him. That if they asks for something and they say no they’ll send him her body pieces. Huck lays out every worse case scenario possible while Quinn demands he shuts up. He keeps going until Quinn snaps and starts hitting him. Jake breaks it up and Huck tells them that Olivia is dead before leaving.
In Fitz office, he tells Cyrus about Mellie meeting every plane that comes back with coffins. He tells him that they have to get Olivia back because there are soldiers who are never coming home because he’s trying to get her back and they can’t have died for nothing. Cyrus promises that he’ll do everything within his power to get her back.
Some takeaways…
– I kind of really felt for Abby this episode. She’s the only one who has known Olivia the longest, so it’s kind of messed up that Huck and Quinn wouldn’t tell her what was going on. We could clearly see how much her relationship with Olivia means to her even when she tries to be a tough ass.
– While we’re talking about Huck, he has officially lost it. I don’t think he’ll ever be the same again even after Olivia returns. That murder scene though… He seems to be the only one looking at the realistic possibility that Olivia could die.
– I’ll leave you with this, I’m about ready for Olivia to come home. If whoever “won” her isn’t as shocking as I want it to be I’ll be ready for them to wrap this angle of the story up.
Who do you think really won the auction? Let me know in the comments.
