SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
This was the setup for what I’m pretty sure is the back half of the season’s main arc… and I actually like it. Check out the recap below!
The landlord is about to evict Lois her neighbor but Rose won’t let him. Olivia steps in and tells him he has five days before he can change the locks then invites Rose in and tells her her suspicions about Lois whereabouts. Olivia goes to OPA and tells Huck and Quinn that they need to find out what happened to Rose’s body.
David gets a visit from Kim (Huck’s ex-wife) who gives him the files on B613 that she got from her husband Diego Munoz. David, a little shook, goes to see Huck and Jake to tell them what’s going on. Neither he or Jake know who Diego is and Huck tells them it’s him and that he’ll take care of it. He pays her a visit and tells her that she needs to drop for her and Javie safety. She believes that David is on their side and that he needs to testify against B613 and ask for full immunity. He tells Jake and David her plans and Jake tells him that he needs to testify that he’s having PTSD and made everything up to protect everyone.
Susan’s guffaw is making the rounds on the news so they call in Leo to help them fix it and get votes from the Senate committee. They have her go on a media bout and make light of it laughing at herself. They then have her flip it and take it seriously by speaking with a more serious reporter. Leo is being a little pushy to the point that Susan ups and quits. Abby confronts Leo about it right as their preparing for bed and calls him a bully. He tells her that Susan may not be the right person for the job and she fires him.
Quinn tracks down the ambulance but when she and Huck get to it it’s empty. Rose shows up at OPA and tells Olivia that she knows something bad happened to Lois she just wants to know what happened. Olivia hints that there may be more than a friendship between Rose and Lois and Rose tells her about their relationship growing up together to where they ended up.
Abby stops by OPA with a salad for Liv and to tell her that Susan quit. Olivia is adamant that she’s not working for the White House but Abby tells her that she would only be doing this for Susan and for herself. Abby then tells her that she knows about what she’s been going through dealing with the aftermath of her kidnapping and that she could use something good.
Olivia meets with Susan who doesn’t want to end up soulless like Leo. Olivia tells her to not bow out because of fear and asks her why she said yes to being Vice President in the first place. She tells her to be honest and be herself because the country needs her. At the senate committee hearing she tells them that she wants every child to grow up in a nation where they know they can fulfill their dreams like she is now. She follows that with some other strong points to prove that she’s capable of the job.
After a nice family dinner with Kim and Javie Huck asks Quinn to reach out to Charlie and tell him to destroy all of his B613 files. Quinn loses it because he still hasn’t told her what’s going on and he tells her what happened while assuring her that it’s handled and he chose Liv. At the hearing, Huck answers every question with “I don’t know” and “I don’t remember”. Kim tells Huck to tell David about what happened and after a lot of prodding when questioned about the hole he tells David that the hole existed.
Huck tells them what the hole was like– the measurements, what he did and what he thought. Huck gets very emotional and David realizes that ish just got real, realizing what Huck went through and tells him okay.
Fitz makes his apology on the Hill and Susan is confirmed as vice president. Abby and Leo make up rather quickly, Kim kisses Huck and Olivia tells Rose what happened to Lois (a coverup story). Olivia returns home and finally throws that stained couch cushion out.
David shows Jake what Huck said and David tells him that he’s not going to move forward with it while trying to protect Liv and Huck. He tells him that Jake originally gave him the files to go after the bad guys. Jake tells him they are the bad guys and he tells him they’re not anymore.
Some takeaways…
– Not gone lie, it was kind of a slow episode in the beginning. The best part was Huck’s confession. I think that this is an interesting turn of events in the storyline. Huck just might get his family back but a lot of people may fall in the process.
– I don’t know if I missed something, but I didn’t know that Leo was still around or that he and Abby were officially a thing. The bedroom scene made it seem like he sleeps there every night. I think they’re cute together I just didn’t know they were still together.
– I feel like Susan is going to come out of this entire thing the woman on top. She has a likeable character and with the right direction and strong voice. I think she’s going to surprise Fitz and them in the end.
