SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
After a short hiatus we’re back and Oliver has to answer if he’ll accept Ra’s al Ghul’s offer. Whether he says yes or no there will be consequences to pay. Check out the recap below!
Oliver is with Keyoh when he wanders off and Oliver freaks out. He finds him and Keyoh convinces him that they need to go to the botanical gardens because that’s where his father told him to meet if they ever got separated. At the botanical gardens Oliver notices undercover agents and tells Kayoh to run. As they’re trying to hide they run into a woman who looks just like Shado.
The Offer
We open right where we left off with Oliver sacrificing himself for Diggle and Ra’s al Ghul telling him he wants him to take his place. He then takes him on and talks about how he sees him struggling with being Oliver Queen and the Arrow and becoming Ra’s al Ghul is his way out. He tells him that the city and his allies in the police department will turn on him if he doesn’t take his offer and then he’ll die alone. He tells him about the water’s power and that its powers are losing its effect on him.
Oliver is still not biting but Ra’s tells him he can give him an entire world to fight for. He tells him that the League of Assassins would be his own and he can pretty much do what he wants. He asks him what happens if he refuses and Ra’s tells him he can leave with Diggle and Malcolm and all debt would be paid as a sign of good faith. Of course Oliver is like, lets bounce.
Nyssa doesn’t believe Thea killed Sara and she tells her about Malcolm drugging her. Nyssa tells her she’s not worth it and the blood debt ends with her father. Laurel and Roy come running in swinging trying to tag team Nyssa before Roy shoots her. Thea is happy to see all over is back and alive but is kissed be brought Malcolm back with him. He returns to the club where Diggle tells him that he doesn’t believe Ra’s would just let him go that easily. Oliver tells him to drop it l, they’re alive.
The rest of the team is not too excited about hearing that Malcolm is alive. Oliver lets Nyssa go and tells the team that they need to give the city a reminder that they’re still watching over them. Felicity finds a robbery in process and he tells them to suit up. At the robbery things get out of their control and the robbers escape with diamonds. Arrow pays Quentin a visit to give him the information but he is pissed that he lied about Sara being dead. He wants nothing to do with him anymore because he doesn’t trust him.
Oliver stops by Palmer Technologies where things are getting a little heated between Felicity and Ray. He asks her to look into one of the robber who had his lips sewn shut and she tells him his street name is Murmur. He also tells her about his conversation with Quentin and asks if he’s okay and he tells her he’s fine.
Laurel stops by Thea’s apartment to check on her because she’s worried about her. Thea tells her she’s lucky she has a normal father and she tells her that they’re not on the best of terms before being interrupted by Malcolm. Laurel leaves and Thea tells him that she’s learned nothing from him and was ready to die because of what he did to her. He tells her to kill him and she tells him he’s sick.
Nyssa returns to Nanda Parbat to confront her father about letting Malcolm go. He reveals that he offered Oliver his place and Nyssa tells him that it’s because she loved Sara. She tells him she won’t watch him hand her legacy over while going to strike him with her sword but he catches it and tells her don’t. Once she leaves he puts his hand in the Lazarus Pit and it heals.
At the lair Oliver tells Diggle that Ra’s predicted Quentin turning in him and Felicity with Ray before telling him about his offer. Diggle tells him that he’s letting him get in his hand and he shouldn’t even consider it. He asks Diggle what have they accomplished; maybe the Arrow isn’t enough and he should just be Ra’s al Ghul.
Oliver returns home and Thea tells him that she doesn’t recognize the person she was before their parents died. She tells him she didn’t kill Malcolm because of their mom and what she’d think of her becoming a murderer just like him (Malcolm). Something is broken inside of her just like inside Malcolm and there’s nothing that can fix that. Malcolm overhears and tells Oliver that he suggested Thea kill him. He then tells him about his doubts of Ra’s just letting them go and Oliver tells him about the offer. Malcolm tells him that Ra’s doesn’t make offers he makes orders.
While waiting for Roy and Diggle to return Felicity tells him that she knows about the offer and he tells her that it’s been two years and they haven’t accomplished anything. He tells her that he doesn’t know why he’s doing it anymore. She tells him that it’s his turn to figure out why he’s doing this because when they thought he was dead they had to figure it out for themselves. Roy and Diggle return with information on Murmur and believe he’s heading to get payback on the police who got a confession out of him.
Laurel tries to get Quentin to talk to her but he tells her that he’s tried but he doesn’t believe he’ll ever be able to forgive her for what she did. As they’re talking Murmur and his crew show up firing guns. He tells Laurel to run but she doesn’t want to leave him. She finally takes off and is about to get shot but is saved by Nyssa. Quentin is in a choke hold when Arrow and Arsenal burst through and save him. It’s an pretty awesome fight scene and while this is going on Murmur tries to make his escape but Arrow takes him down. Quentin comes running out and asks him if he’s waiting around for a thank you and he tells him that’s not why he does this.
Back at the lair, Oliver thanks Felicity and tells her she was right. He knows why he’s the Arrow and it’s because when he was at the precinct all he could think about was the officer’s families who were counting on him, Roy and Diggle to get them home safely. She tells him that as long as he’s in her life she’s happy. Of course, horrible timing, Ray calls. Laurel runs into Nyssa who has been thinking about Sara and asks her if she wants someone to talk to. She offers to take her to dinner and Nyssa offers to train her.
Oliver meets with Maseo and tells him he doesn’t want to take the offer. Maseo tells him that Ra’s has already chosen and if he resists there will be consequences. Thea, still distraught over everything that’s happened, goes to Roy and asks if she can stay there. He says yes and they makeout. We end with a trio of thugs conversing about they’re next plan of attack when two are killed by arrows. Someone dressed as the Arrow drops down and we see it’s Ra’s al Ghul who tells the surviving guy to go tell everyone what he just saw.
Some takeaways…
– So Shado is alive… right? If so, how? That’s like my number one question from this episode. Pretty sure we all watched her die on the Island… okay, it wasn’t just me then.
– I liked seeing a little Thea and Roy action, I think they are good together. Glad Oliver and Felicity are vibing again. Looks like we’ll be getting some googly eyes next week.
– Ra’s is a dirty dirty man but I mean, who didn’t see that coming? It’s going to be interesting to see how the team deals with this. I made the sort of mistake watching the extended trailer for the rest of the season. Spoilers galore, but I’m very excited about what’s coming up. You can watch the spoilery trailer on Arrow’s Facebook page or you can just take my word on it.
