SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I feel like my recaps haven’t been this long in awhile but so much happened in the episode! Sidenote, I’ve really been trying to condense these recaps down, but hey there’s only so much I can leave out. Get into the recap below!
Team Arrow has traded in their costumes for suits and dresses to see Diggle and Lyla get married. There’s an issue with the minister getting ther in time so Ray who just happens to be a minister officiates the wedding. The ceremony goes smoothly and the reception is going okay until the team gets an alert on their phones that the Arrow has returned to killing. The city leaders hold a press conference where Ray tells them that he’s going to make sure Arrow is apprehended and brought to justice. Oliver quickly realizes that it’s Ra’s al Ghul and tells the team to start investigating who’s under the hood while telling Diggle and Lyla to go on their honeymoon.
The Flashback
This week we get Deadshot’s (Floyd) back story. He’s returned home from the war to his family and he’s been away for awhile because his daughter doesn’t know who he is. He eventually turns to drinking and takes his anger out on his daughter. His wife tells him he needs to talk to someone about what it was like being in war but he gets aggressive grabbing her by the chin and pulling out a gun. She calls the police and he’s arrested. His bail is posted by Argus who want to pay him for his talents. He finds out that his wife took out a restraining order and he’s told that he doesn’t get to get a family. He accepts the offer and he’s given his first target, Andrew Diggle.
They get into the limo and find Deadshot sitting there telling them pretty much that the Suicide Squad has a mission. They head to Argus where Amanda Waller tells them a US senator Craig was abducted in the Republic of Kasnia and Lyla needs to gather the team to extract the hostages. Diggle tells Lyla that he’s not going to let her go alone and they head there with a team consisting them two, Deadshot and Cupid. Cupid is still showing stalker tendencies while Deadshot is spreading his everything will eventually suck philosophy around.
The team gets past the guards and get inside. They try to get the senator out but he starts freaking out telling them that it wasn’t supposed to happen this way before pulling a gun out on them. He starts shooting causing chaos and Deadshot pushes Cupid out of the way getting shot in the arm in the process. The bullet goes through and Diggle patches him up as Cupid fawns over him.
Lyla tries to call out but the senator is jamming the frequencies. He tells them that he pretty much set this whole thing up so that he’d come out as the hero all for votes during his presidential campaign. Since they showed up he now has to kill all of the hostages. They see … bringing bombs in and Lyla gets emotional because she doesn’t think they should’ve came and they won’t make it. Deadshot tells them that they’re going to get out of there and they’re going to make it home to their daughter.
They burst into the main room and the senator threatens to blow them all up. They back off but he realizes there’s only three of them. Deadshot is outside in sniper position and takes out majority of the guards before shooting the trigger out of the senator’s hand. They get the hostages out and Deadshot tells them that he’s not getting out, he’s going to stay and cover them so that they can get home to their daughter. They get everyone out right before the building blows up with him on top of it.
Arrow Impersonators
Felicity finds the faux Arrow and Oliver goes after him himself telling Roy to stay because this is the League. Pretty much it’s not a game. Oliver gets to the location and stops the hooded person and as their fighting like four more hooded men show up. He tries to fight them all but Maseo shows up and tells him that he can’t fight them all. He tells him that Ra’s sees something in him and he needs to give in but Oliver is like that will never happen. Maseo throws down a bomb type distraction and they all disappear as we see Ray flying around in the ATOM suit. He uses the technology to determine the Arrow’s identity and it tells him its a high probability that the person is Oliver Queen.
Ray tells Felicity that Oliver is the Arrow and she tries to play like she didn’t know but he calls her out on it. She tries to tell him that Oliver isn’t the one out there killing people and Ray realizes she has feelings for him. She tries to tell him that it’s over with and he tells her that he did trust her, thought she could be his partner but he doesn’t trust her anymore. He tells her that he’s going to help the city bring Arrow to justice.
Oliver is examining the arrows from the League but their identical. Felicity shows up and tells him and Roy about Ray’s suit and that he’s going to tell the police Oliver’s identity. Ray takes his findings to Laurel who tells him that she can’t use any of his evidence in court. He realizes that she’s protecting him and notices her injured arm and calls her out on her bs. She tells him that if he goes to anyone including the press with this Oliver can sue him for slander. Ray tells her that he’s just going to deal with it on his own.
Oliver pays Ray a visit and tells him that he didn’t kill those people and he should trust Felicity’s judgement. Ray tells him that her judgement is clouded and Oliver tells him that he has no idea what the city is up against. He tells him that he does and he’s going to stop him. Oliver returns to the lair and tells Felicity that Ray is unstable and is going to get himself killed. Felicity tells him that he never wanted her to be with Ray but liver tells her that it’s not true. She tells him that Ray wants to be a human and a hero but Oliver tells her he’s too new and will soon find out that he can’t be both.
Oliver and Roy go to what they think is a 911 call about gang activity but it’s just Ray. He shows up in the suit and knows Roy out pretty quickly (are we seriously back to this?) and he and Oliver go at it. Roy is about to give him the final blow when Oliver shoots an arrow at the part of his suit that shuts it down. Ray tells him to kill him so Felicity can see who he really is. Oliver tells him that he doesn’t have to prove anything to her. If he’d been the impersonator Ray would be dead. He tells him that Felicity chose Ray and he should trust her.
Felicity goes to see Ray to check on him and he apologizes for not trusting her and they make up. Diggle and Lyla return home and he tells her that he’s leaving team Arrow. Lyla tells him that the work they do is good work unlike her work in which she resigned. Diggle goes to the lair and they catch up while they toast to Floyd. Ray goes to the mayor and tells them that he thinks the Arrow is being framed. As their talking an arrow comes flying through the window right into the mayor’s chest.
Some takeaways…
– Glad to see that Diggle is still apart of Team Arrow. This has nothing to do with anything but Diggle and Lyla’s baby is sooooo adorable.
– I’m also glad that Felicity is still with Ray. Eventually Ray will see that it’s hard trying to be a hero and in love and then we’ll have to see Felicity go through pretty much the same thing she went through with Oliver.
– Quentin wants the Arrow’s head on a platter especially now that the mayor is dead. Next week looks like it’s going to be crazy good and I can’t wait!
