Lizzie meets with Mellie’s half sister Harmony to vet her and Mellie is mad about it. Lizzie tells her that her sister is clearly angry and anyone could go down there and get her to talk. Lizzie tells her she needs to go down and make up with her to bring her into the fold. Cyrus tells Abby that the arrival of Harmony will put Fitz against Mellie’s campaign because one thing he hates the most is when Mellie’s mess of a family gets involved.
Fitz and Mellie have dinner with Harmony when Mellie snaps at her for being disrespectful by not addressing Fitz as the president. This turns into a back and forth bickering session and Harmony threatens to talk to the press about her mother and how she ran their father off into her mother’s arms. Fitz tells them it’s enough and Harmony tells Mellie to watch herself because she has a lot of dirt on her. Fitz tells Mellie she needs to apologize and make things right because Harmony has dirt on her. He tells her that she needs to accept that people are going to hate her and if she can’t accept that she shouldn’t run. She tells him that he was supposed to act like her at dinner not like the leader of the free world; he’s pretty much suppose to placate her.
Before Harmony leaves Fitz meets with her and tells her that Mellie doesn’t hate her she’s just jealous and uses it to fill a void her father left. Harmony goes to see Mellie and gives her a hug before leaving. Surprised, Mellie asks what Fitz did to fix it and he tells her what he had to do. She’s going to win and he’s going to be right by her side when she does… to Cyrus dismay.
David goes to Jake telling him he needs him to testify against Command but he taps out and tells him if he signs that will be his death warrant. David tells him that if he doesn’t testify he can’t protect him and Jake goes all ninja on him and tells him that he’s the one who needs protecting from him and to drop the case or he’ll drop him.
David, Quinn, Huck and Charlie go to three former agents (Margot, Max and Simon) and offer them immunity to stronghold Jake into the fold. Jake has bugged David’s office and overhears everything.
Liv has been romping around with Franklin Russell, fine ass Franklin, and she gets called to the office by a congressman Nicholas Reed who needs her help with getting her father’s execution halted after he confessed to killing his sister’s teacher Daniel Hoffman. Jamie hung herself after the teacher raped her. Olivia goes to talk to George in prison but he doesn’t want her help but she tells him that she believes he’s innocent and she’s taking his case whether he likes it or not.
Huck, Quinn and Charlie take the trio of agents to the safe house then leave Charlie in charge because duty calls. They find out that Daniel slept with at least three other girls and think they need to question his wife. When Olivia goes to her house she finds out from her sister that she passed away. Back at the safe house, Charlie returns to find the agents dead, one almost dead, then sees Jake who he tries to stop from killing the final guy. Jake shoots the guy before getting out of the tussle and escaping.
David thinks they need to find other agents but Charlie doesn’t think anyone would jump at testifying. Huck dismisses Jake and Charlie thinks they need to kill Jake. Quinn doesn’t think they should but Huck is with Charlie and believes Jake isn’t himself anymore. Later that night, Huck and Quinn break into Mrs. Hoffman’s house to see if they can find anything linking her to her husband’s murder. Quinn finds a gun that’s the same make and model of the one used on Daniel. They call in an anonymous tip to the police so that they find the gun and as their sitting in the car Huck gets a ping from Jake’s cell phone.
Charlie goes to where the phone pinged him but he can’t find him. Huck tracks it again and it shows up at Liv’s house. Quinn freaks out and tries to call but no one answers and she and Huck rush over there. They bang on the door and Liv opens and they find her there with fine ass Franklin. She shuts the door and Jake comes out of the apartment across the hall and tells them that they don’t need to worry about Olivia because as long as he’s safe she’s safe.
Huck, Quinn and Charlie meet with David and tell him that they need to kill Jake but David wants to try to figure a way around it. Huck tells him it’s over but David tells them that their the good guys and they’re the ones who get justice. Charlie takes that as his signal to bow out pretty much ending their plans for taking down B613. David is flabbergasted and thinks they need to tell Liv but they tell him it’s over and to be safe.
Olivia goes and tells George and the congressman about the results of the ballistics but she tells them that she knows it was planted by Nicholas and she knows he’s the one who killed Daniel. Nicholas goes to confess but George tells him to shut the hell up and respect him before leaving. Nicholas tells her that his father told him he’d kill himself if he confessed and he doesn’t know what to do. He then confesses to killing Daniel and believes he’s the one who needs to pay for the crime not his father, but he doesn’t know what to do.
Meanwhile, David comes to the realization that he was a witness to James and like three other people’s murder by the hand of Jake. He calls Huck to tell him that he can testify and bring down Jake and of course Jake overhears since he’s bugged the office. Liv goes back to talk to George and tells him that she can help his son but he thinks he’s living good. She tells him that he’s not and that he’s living a trapped life and he needs to let him go. Nicholas holds a press conference stepping down from his position and confessing to killing Daniel.
David and Holly are leaving when Jake approaches them with a gun and tells David to step aside revealing that Holly got a gun. We find out that she’s B613 and she’s the one who’s been killing everybody on orders from Rowan. Jake kills her and tells David that he’s never been out but he’s going to have to realize that they’re at war and Rowan is coming. We also find out that Liv has known about everything and tears Huck a new one for trying to keep it a secret from her. Boy oh boy.
Some takeaways…
-I’m just putting this out there, but seeing how the episodes have been going I’m probably going to continue to split the recaps in two. There always seems to be two separate main storylines running and it’s just easier to comprehend if I do it that way.
– Jake was not playing with these people tonight. Not going to lie the writers kind of played me. I did not see the secretary thing coming and I’m usually good at figuring out these things. The COTW thing though I saw that a mile away.
– For this episode Franklin was “fine ass Franklin” but seeing as he showed up at the door with Papa Pope I don’t know if we can even trust him. He did look a bit scared though so there’s hope!
– I know I complained about a lot of the episodes this season but this one was actually good. I liked it better than a lot of the other episodes even with its predictability.
Did you see Jake not being the killer coming? Let me know in the comments!
