SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I found myself yelling at the screen a few times because the writers totally played me. Things are getting intense which means the finale is going to be insane. Check out the recap below!
Quintin thinks Oliver shouldn’t make Roy take the fall for him but Oliver wants to give a full confession. Laurel intervenes telling him that they can’t legally charge two people for the same crime. Oliver asks Roy why he turned himself and and he tells him that he feels he should be punished for killing the officer while he was on mirakuru. Malcolm pays Oliver a visit and tells him that Ra’s al Ghul won’t stop until he takes his place. He tells him he needs to do something before he starts killing people close to him but Oliver tells him that he’s focused on trying to get Roy out of prison.
Ray handles Felicity not saying she loves him back a little awkwardly telling her that he meant love with a lowercase l. He also checks on her to make sure she’s doing okay following Oliver and Roy being arrested. The team gathers to try to come up with a plan for Roy when they hear about a meta-human who murdered two guards. Oliver tells Felicity to contact Cisco to see if they’re tracking him but they’re interrupted by Detective Lance who’s come with a warrant to search the basement.
Team Arrow turns to Ray
While dusting for fingerprints the only ones that come up are for Roy and Detective Lance is pissed… so is Oliver. Diggle doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Oliver to try to go after the meta-human and suggests they enlist Ray’s help. Thea visits Roy against his wishes and tells him to tell her what’s going on. He tells her that he doesn’t want to lie to her and everything will be fine.
Thanks to Ray the team is able to get a good picture of the meta-human’s face and run facial recognition. Oliver wants to go after him but Ray stops him and tells him that they should be working together and he’s better equipped to handle him. Ray comes face to face with Deathbolt who gets him in the chest and gets the upper hand before Ray blasts out of his grasp. Oliver tells Ray that he barely got out alive and he needs to learn how to trust his instincts and not just he tech or he’ll get himself killed.
Detective Lance gets a visit from a friend in the business who tells him that there are questions about why he’s still going after Oliver and tells him not to let his personal feelings get in the way of his job. He then tries to intimidate Thea and tells her about Roy being hurt and that when he dies it’s going to be on Oliver. Thea tells Oliver what happened and decides he’s going to break him out. Diggle tries to stop him but Oliver doesn’t want anyone to get in his way and tells him that he’s already lost everything and he’s not going to lose Roy.
At the precinct, Detective Lance goes to Roy and tells him that he’s trying to save him and confesses to killing the officer. Quentin tells him that him being in jail doesn’t make up for anything that he did in the streets.
Felicity runs after Oliver to try to stop him and tells him that he needs to let people help him. She tells him that even if he breaks out Roy there is no more Arrow because Ra’s made sure of that. He tells her that he doesn’t know who he is and she tells him that he’s the man that she believes in. Felicity goes in as a decoy to get close to Deathbolt and she quickly learns that his power consists of absorbing light.
Ray calls Felicity’s phone but Deathbolt answers but Felicity is able to get away by blasting steam in his face. Oliver and Ray work together with Ray in the suit and Oliver controlling it so that he can take down Deathbolt. Oliver fights for Ray but ends up losing control and Oliver gives Ray a quick pep talk so that he can beat Deathbolt.
Roy is a little more aware of his surroundings follow his previous attack but is blindsided when a cop stabs him in the stomach. Detective Lance tells Thea and Oliver the news that Roy passed and tells Oliver that it’s his fault. Oliver tells Diggle and Felicity that he should’ve saved him and then they let us in on their grand well thought out plan which consisted of Roy faking his murder to clear Oliver’s name. Since the everyone thinks he’s dead Roy leaves town.
Thea is reminiscing over pictures of her and Roy when she turns to find Ra’s in her house. He tells her that he’s going to give Oliver sufficient motivation to beg to take his place. Thea goes after him but Ra’s eventually gets hold of her and stabs her through the chest.
The Flashback
Oliver tells Maseo and Tatsu that he’s going to find Waller before she finds him and he and Maseo have concocted a plan. When Oliver gets there he finds a wounded Waller who tells him she’s been held hostage for weeks by the general Shrieve who wants to use the Omega and pin it on the Triad. She tells him to run and get as far away as he can. Oliver takes the news back to Maseo and Tatsu and tells them that he wants to steal the virus from Shrieve. They go to the army base and sneak in to get a vaccine to protect themselves before barely slipping away. There’s not enough for everyone and Tatsu insists that they’re going to help Oliver.
Some takeaways…
– Best line of the night, Oliver to Felicity –”There’s a chance you and Palmer just might be related.” Oh the lols!
– So many things happened this episode. It was slow but those two “deaths” really blindsided me. I knew that someone was supposed to die before the end of the season and it kept feeling like they were going to kill off Roy but I’m glad he’s still alive. Y’all know he’s my fave.
– Definitely didn’t see the Thea thing coming but it’s the perfect opportunity for them to put the Lazarus Pit into play. I think it’s pretty clear that Oliver is going to become the next Ra’s so it’ll be interesting to see how things play out.
– It also looks like we’re getting close to Ray’s sendoff for his spinoff and sense his speech to Felicity that they should just be friends… or whatever coming soon.
What did you think about Roy’s grand plan? Let me know in the comments!
