Training Days
We get a montage of Oliver going through intense training and what looks like torture to erase his identity as Oliver. Three weeks later Diggle is put in front of him and he’s told that he tried to break Oliver out again. Oliver doesn’t want to fight an unarmed man so Sarob gives Diggle a sword and he demands he fights. Oliver gets the upper hand and stabs him through the chest but the man’s true identity is revealed since Oliver was under something that makes him see his loved ones. Ra’s tells Oliver that he must eliminate a threat of a person claiming to be the heir and he must do it without mercy.
Back in Starling City, Laurel is still fighting the good fight protecting the city.with some help and training from Nyssa. After taking down a bad guy they go for milk shakes, which is a first for Nyssa, and Nyssa thanks her for showing her kindness. Laurel takes this opportunity to tell Nyssa about Oliver accepting her father’s proposal and Nyssa gets pissed and leaves.
Thea and Felicity are enjoying quality time with Diggle and Lyla while discussing Diggle’s taking on protecting the city and their feelings on Oliver being going. Laurel goes to apologize to Nyssa but she tells her she needs to leave because Oliver is coming after her with as many men as possible to make sure she dies. We see Oliver and the League descend on the city ready to make Nyssa pay for her betrayal. Nyssa tells Diggle and Felicity about what about to go down and of course Felicity doesn’t take it well. She tells them not to think about what Oliver has become and leaves to go face him.
Laurel wants to know what they do but Felicity tells her they do nothing because she’s lying about Oliver. Diggle doesn’t think they should get in between Nyssa and the League and tells Laurel that Nyssa is not a person they stick their necks out for. Laurel convinces them otherwise and she reveals that she put a tracker on her so they can help her. Laurel tells Diggle that if anything happens with Nyssa to let her step in on her own. Diggle tells her that he’s not going to let her do that because there’s nothing Ra’s can do to turn Oliver against the people he loves.
Meanwhile, Thea pays Felicity a visit and offers to help them out so she doesn’t have to sit around at home. Felicity tells her about what Oliver is up to but Thea thinks she could get through to him. Felicity tells her that Oliver did what he did so she could stay out of harms way and she relents telling her that it seems like Oliver isn’t here anymore.
Oliver confronts Nyssa who isn’t going down without a fight. They go arrow for arrow and Nyssa even pulls out the sword but Oliver gets the upper hand and has the sword at her throat as she demands he kills her. It looks like he’s about to do it when they’re interrupted by the Canary cry and they turn to find Diggle and Laurel there. Diggle tells Oliver that they’re not going to let him kill her and Oliver just walks off the side of the building without even flinching, like peace out guys.
Nyssa tells Laurel they never should’ve interfered and that she was marked for death the moment Oliver accepted her father’s offer. She tells her that there’s no easy life for her but Laurel tells her she believes she can change. Diggle and Felicity are taking the new Oliver very well and Oliver has sold he soul. Thea calls Malcolm over to talk to him about Oliver and wants to save him but Malcolm quickly tells her what a bad idea that would be. She tells him that she knows she can stop this and Malcolm asks her what she needs from him. Oliver returns and tells them that Nyssa has friends who are protecting her and they need to draw her out.
Diggle and Felicity return to his house because he believes they need to stick close but they find Sara alone crying. He gets a call from Oliver who tells him that they have Lyla and no harm will come to her if he delivers Nyssa to them. They go to tell Nysaa and Laurel but Diggle goes off on Nyssa and tells her to prove that she doesn’t want any harm to come to them by turning herself in. Nyssa goes to do it but Laurel steps in and tells her that she won’t let her do it.
Face Off
Lyla tries to get into Oliver’s head by telling him about what he’s done for Diggle but Oliver tells her to shut up. They go to the trade off and Diggle calls him a son of a bitch while Felicity tells him that she knows he’s in there somewhere. They bind up Nyssa and let Lyla free but it’s a setup and Lyla takes her guns from Felicity and the ish hits the fan. It turns into a brutal face off and team currently unnamed is not faring well. Laurel gets hurt which distracts Nyssa and she ends up getting captured. Oliver and Diggle are going at it but Oliver gets the upper hand and is about to kill him when he gets an arrow through the arm. Everyone turns to find a hooded Thea threatening to shoot him through the eye if he doesn’t back down. Oliver yanks the arrow out of his arm and leaves.
The team regroups to discuss what just happened and Diggle tells them that Oliver is gone and the only thing left of him is them. Back at Nanda Parbat Oliver hands over Nyssa but finds out that Ra’s wanted her because she stole something from him. Ra’s instructs Oliver to do what needs to be done and Oliver goes to kill her but Ra’s stops him telling him that there’s no need. He then tells them that their families will unite and Nyssa will marry Oliver.
Felicity goes to check on Thea who thinks Oliver should’ve just let her die. She tells her that they need to remember the best parts of Oliver and move on. Felicity then takes that time to tell Thea that Roy is alive and tells her that he’s starting a new life that could include her if she wants it.
Ra’s shows Oliver what Nyssa stole– it’s the Alpha Omega serum and he wants him to unleash it Starling City so that his new self will ascend from his past. If I were the people of Starling City I would’ve moved by now…
Some takeaways…
– This was tough. I had so many emotions going through me while watching this. I was even starting to feel like Felicity thinking that the real Oliver is in there somewhere. I think he peeked out a little bit when Ra’s announced that he would marry Nyssa.
– Lets talk about this Nyssa thing. Laurel has come a long way from that annoying drunk character that everyone hated but it got to the point where I yelled at the screen multiple time just let the girl turn herself in. They knew going in that trying to go up against the League would be a big fail and we all saw how true that turned out to be. Laurel ain’t that good of a fighter to steady be throwing everyone into the line of extreme fire.
– I don’t really like where we are right now and I’m hoping that something happens next week to stop this wedding. Is it even a legal marriage if they don’t sign that pesky little paper called a marriage license? The huge plus for next week is that Roy is back! That’s the only thing I’m looking forward too because I have no idea what the finale is going to give us. I don’t even think my heart will be able to handle it.
