SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Every crazy, wacky, frustrating moment led up to this. It was a pretty tame finale in my opinion but hey, maybe next season will start off with a crazy bang. Did OPA succeed in bringing down Papa Pope? It’s all in the recap below!
Jake goes on stand in front of the Grand Jury to testify and he’s questioned about Remington. He wants to avoid discussing it but David tells him that its important in bringing down B613. Jake tells Olivia he’ll do whatever she tells him to do and she tells him to tell the whole truth no matter who gets hurt. Liv calls Fitz who tells her he’s about to go sign the Brandon Bill, she congratulates him and tells him how proud he is before getting off the phone. Huck comes running in to get her telling her something happened and they go out to the garage to find the bus of jurors brutally murdered. Lizzie runs in on Mellie watching the news coverage and tells her that list of names was of the jurors.
David brings the files on B613 to OPA and tells them that he quits. Everyone who heard Jake’s testimony is dead except for him and them. Liv is pissed off and tells Jake that she’s sick of her father winning and she wants what’s owed to her. Jake tells her that if she says the word they can just go but she tells him no matter where they go she’ll still be trapped. She pays her mother a visit in jail to talk about Rowan and tells her that she’s tried everything to destroy him. Maya tells her that it’s always about her and the world she lives in is not real. She tells her that she’s trying to take down an enemy that no one knows exists.
Meanwhile, Mellie is freaking out and tells Cyrus that she killed the grand jurors. He thinks she did this for herself but she tells him that she did it for all of them. She tells him about the man she met with and how he knew about Remington and showed her some files. Cyrus springs into action and tells her that he’ll take care of it. Cyrus pays Rowan a visit and tells him that what he did was help them and tells him that he now owes him.
Olivia rounds up the team and tells them that she has a plan to tell the CIA director about her father. She thinks it’s the most preposterous thing she’s heard so Liv starts laying out all of the facts with the B613 files to back it. Liv realizes that she already knew B613 exists and asks her what they’re going to do about it and she gives orders to have her team assembled. She then meets with Cyrus and tells hm that she’s taking down Rowan and dismantling B613 because it was only supposed to be about five men not a whole organization. Cyrus tells her that she might want to reconsider messing with the lion because the first person it’ll attack is her. The director returns to the room with her men who arrest Liv and Jake.
Cyrus meets with David who thinks he wants to fire him but Cyrus tells him that he knows his one weakness is Abby and pretty much threatens that he can make anything happen to her which means he can make him do anything He goes in to meet with Jake and Olivia with a document they need to sign that would withdraw their statements on B613. Once they sign they’ll be set free. Liv tries to figure out who sent him and questions if it’s Cyrus. He then threatens to have them convicted of various crimes if they don’t sign and Jake says he won’t sign unless Liv does. David plays them both getting them to sign and Jake tells him that he’s pretty much a coward.
Mellie wins the senate race and Lizzie is talking to Fitz backstage and lets it slip about the donor who asked Mellie to do something horrible for him. She shows him the picture of him and he asks what he asked her to do and she tells him just as Mellie calls him out on stage. Liv tells Huck and Quinn what happened and that she can’t say anything because all of the evidence is gone. Quinn tells her they still have the two billion dollars Huck stole from B613 but he tells them that the money is in so many off shore accounts it could’ve came from anywhere. Liv comes up with a plan and the police show up at Rowan’s office arresting him for embezzlement. Liv and Jake show up at the precinct and tell him that while Rowan had so much power Eli Pope is powerless.
Back at OPA Quinn confronts Huck and asks him why he’s working with Command. He tells her that he didn’t have a choice, he was trying to protect his family. She tells him that he wasn’t protecting anyone and that he doesn’t deserve them, Liv or her and she should just shoot him now and he tells her to do it.
At the White House Cyrus and Mellie are celebrating about her win when Fitz quickly bursts their bubble and tells them that he knows about the jurors. Mellie tries to tell him that she was trying to protect them, their team but he tells her that they’re not a team and tells her to get out of his house because she doesn’t even know what she did. She tries to reason with him but he tells her again to get out before he throws her out. Cyrus tries to play dumb but Fitz tells him he already knows everything that he did then swiftly fires him.
Jake takes Liv home and she invites him in for a drink but he tells her that his mission is complete since Command is in jail and B613 is gone. He tells her that he’s in love with her but she’s in love with Fitz and she should go and take what’s hers since she’s owed. Mellie packs her things and leaves the White House as Cyrus hands over his badge while Lizzie smirks taking over his office (she played the f– out of him). Fitz goes to see Liv but she doesn’t answer so he returns home and she’s there on his balcony waiting for him and he asks her what happens now. She tells him whatever they want.
Some takeaways…
– Can we talk about Fitz for a moment. I was here for every second of the swift justice he served Mellie and Cyrus. He shocked them to silence and I loved every bit of it.
– Sidenote, I like how we have no idea what happened between Huck and Quinn, I’m pretty sure no one died but still.
– Since Jake peaced out I’m assuming that’s the last we’ll be seeing of him for a long time which sucks. Y’all know I’ve always been Team Jake so I’m definitely not jumping at all of the Olitz sappiness we’ll probably get next season.
– I know I’ve had many moments of frustration this season and I’m not sure what next season will hold, but I’ve truly enjoyed recapping and discussing this show. You can listen to me discuss the Scandal finale on The Scandalized Podcast and I will definitely be back to recap next season!
