SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
This episode we learn that Damien is legit cray, Felicity is a badass, Diggle and Oliver make the best duo ever and Malcolm is still the worst father of the year. I’ve got all of this and more in the recap below!
Oliver is trying to fit in as one of the soldiers patrolling the island while trying to get more information about the product. The product is Slam, a genetically modified hybrid that’s one part heroin poppy and one part coca leaf that will get you super high. He’s told to bury his restraint because the people there end up either wash out or doing the product because they can’t handle the violence. They find out that a large portion of Slam is missing and they round up the hostages. One of the soldiers starts killing them off one by one trying to get a response but Oliver tells him it’s not working and pain would be the better option.
He demonstrates it on one of the hostages until one of the women breaks telling them that she took it to help ease the pain of some of the others. The guard is about to kill her but Oliver stops him and tells him that he’ll make her disappear. He takes and lets her free in the woods telling her to trust him or they’re both dead.
At Nanda Parbat Malcolm talks to Thea about the effects she’s been experiencing from the pit, the blood lust. He tells her the pit contains traces of the souls of all the men and women who’ve bathed in it the the pit takes restores it also takes; life for life. She’s asks what he’s sayin and he tells her she needs to feed into the impulse because when she does it’ll subside for awhile. Thea doesn’t take this too well and asks him if he could for a second act like a normal father and offer her normal advice. He tells her there’s a man high in the mountains, a sage who has a way with the ancient art of healing. He may be able to help her but he’s not sure and tells her he will take her to him in the morning.
Nanda Parbat & The Pit
Laurel and Thea show up at Nanda Parbat with Laurel demanding that Malcolm use the Lazarus Pit to bring Sara back but both he and Nyssa tell her that Sara is already dead (been dead) and what she’s requesting hasn’t been done in ages past, only in legend. If it worked what comes out of the pit won’t be Sara.
Laurel tells Nyssa she’s never giving up and counted on Nyssa’s support. Nyssa tells her that the pit gave her father a long life but he paid a dark price for it; the same as Thea is paying now and should wouldn’t wish it on her worst enemy. Laurel tells her that she doesn’t know if the pit will bring her back or if she’ll be the same but she knows she has to try.
Malcolm talks to Thea about the effects she’s been experiencing from the pit– the blood lust. He tells her she needs to feed into the impulse because when she does it’ll subside for awhile. Thea doesn’t take this too well and he tells her there’s a man high in the mountains, a sage who has a way with the ancient art of healing. He may be able to help her but he’s not sure and tells her he will take her to him in the morning.
Thea is awakened by an attack from some of Malcolm’s men. She kills them and he walks in asking her how she feels. She realizes there is no sage and he tells her she will be compelled to kill until she’s slain the one who hurt her. She can’t do that because Ra’s is dead and since she killed she won’t be compelled to do so for weeks. Thea tries to get Laurel to leave because she doesn’t want to kill and she wants to be away from Malcolm but he asks her to let her prove their father-daughter bond by bringing Sara back to life.
Nyssa tries to stop the ceremony to bring Sara back but Laurel is dead set on this decision. They lower her into the water and wait. After awhile nothing happens then Sara emerges pissed as hell and tries to go after Thea but they restrain her. Laurel tries to talk to Sara but she’s still not herself. Malcolm tells her to prepare for the worse but they’re called back to the pit because Nyssa has destroyed it. Malcolm has her locked away but she tells Laurel that whatever happens to Sara is now on her hands.
Oliver and Diggle are working together, with Felicity , trying to take down a ghost and it’s feeling a little like old times. Diggle gets hold of one of him but when he starts questioning him he goes to try to kill himself. Diggle confiscates the pill/tooth but the guy escapes.
Diggle gives the fake tooth they use to hide their Cyanide capsules in to Felicity to analyze. While they wait, Felicity wants to go for margaritas like old times but Diggle shuts them down. Felicity thinks he just needs more time but Oliver tells her he’s done waiting for him to come around. Diggle returns home and finds an A.R.G.U.S. agent in his house alone at the request of Lyla as a favor. He gives him the ID of the person who hired Floyd Lawton to do a hit in 2009, Mina Fayad. She was recently flagged by TSA while flying in from Markovia.
Mina meets with Damien bringing Jeremy Teller to help deal with the vigilante problem. He tells her he has his own precautions but one of his men failed and Jeremy gives him a demonstration of exactly what he can do with his cards killing the guy.
While analyzing the Cyanide tooth Felicity shows Oliver that the DNA marker has half the genetic markers it should have which isn’t possible. They get an alert for a robbery and Oliver decides to go check it out telling her to have Diggle meet him there. Diggle is out tracking Mina and ignores Felicity’s call so Oliver tells her he’ll be fine going on his own.
Oliver arrives at the garage and he meets Jeremy aka Double Down face to face. He tells him it was a set up and starts throwing his cards at him. At the same time, Diggle’s post is made and it turns into a shoot out. Mina gets away from Diggle as Oliver barely escapes Jeremy ending up with a card in the arm.
Felicity is tending to Oliver’s wounds as she informs him and Diggle that he just took on one of Central City’s missing meta-humans. Diggle apologizes for not being there to help but Felicity tells them they both made a poor decision trying to take down criminals on their own. She tells them she’s done not saying anything because they’re going to sit there until they resolve their issues while she takes the card to Curtis at Palmer Tech to find out how the tattoos are being turned into weapons.
Oliver tells him it’s been months and he’s apologized numerous times but Diggle is usually a forgiving person. Diggle tells him it’s not about forgiveness, he doesn’t know how to move forward with them doing what they do because he doesn’t know if he would take a bullet for him anymore. Oliver tells him he understands all of that but what he doesn’t understand is why he won’t give him a chance to earn it back. Diggle asks him if he thinks Jeremy is connected to Damien and he tells him he doesn’t know he only mentioned a woman named Fayed. Diggle tells him they’re going to go to a place where he’s going to try to trust him again and he finally tells him about the connection with H.I.V.E. and his brother sharing his notes over the past two years. He tells him that she’s his only true lead and he has to find her.
Damien is pissed that Jeremy failed at his job and takes it out on both him and Mina who was also compromised. He tells Jeremy that he needs another demonstration and tells him to kill him. He throws the card at him but Damien stops it and throws it at Mina’s throat killing her. He tells Jeremy the demonstration was for him to see just how he processes disappointment.
Felicity can’t find Mina on any security footage so they track her phone and Diggle and Oliver go to the location but they find her dead. Oliver apologizes that he wasn’t able to get any answers from her but Diggle tells him he should be apologizing because he should’ve told him everything earlier then possibly she’d be alive for him to get answers from. Oliver tells him that they will get his answers.
Felicity goes to check in with Curtis who offers to look at her phone which has been having problems. She turns him down and he tells her how to track the card back to the owner by the Magnetite. He then tells her that while they could possibly track him the owner would track them faster. Jeremy shows up at that moment telling them that the first one who can tell him where to find Green Arrow lives and Felicity tells Curtis to run. They get on a secret elevator and she tells him that she works with the Green Arrow, Jeremy is trying to kill them and she’s taking him to the only place where they’ll be safe – the lair which is conveniently located on a hidden floor. Jeremy follows them down there and Felicity pulls out a big gun shooting it in the air hitting him in the arm before he escapes.
Oliver and Diggle return and Felicity traces the card back to Jeremy’s location as he’s trying to head back to Central City. Oliver and Diggle intercept him and try to get information from him about Damien. He shoots a card at Diggle and Oliver takes it in the chest and he thanks him for “taking a bullet for him”. They send Jeremy back to Central City to Iron Heights. Afterwards they go with Felicity for drinks and think that it’s possible Jeremy told Damien about their lair. Oliver informs them that he’s been working on something for lair number 3.
Some takeaways…
- At least they got the Sara coming back from the dead thing out of the way early. If the only way to rid yourself of the blood thirst is by killing the one who killed you… so that would be Thea. Not quite sure why Malcolm thought that would be a good idea. Either way the Sara thing (that’s what we’re calling it for now) just in time for Legends of Tomorrow.
- I am so glad that Diggle and Oliver are talking again, like really talking. If they would’ve dragged that out one more episode I would’ve went crazy. Now they can really focus on bringing down Damien and getting Diggle his answers.
- Something is going on with Felicity’s phone, not quite sure what it is. It looks more like a help call than anything else. If this is a call for help could it possibly be Ray? He has to make his appearance before Legends of Tomorrow and if he needs help the first person he’d reach out to is Felicity.
Are you glad that Oliver and Diggle are good again? Should Laurel have listened to Nyssa? Was Nyssa right in destroying the pit? Let me know below and on Twitter!
