The Flashback

Oliver sets the prisoner free then goes back and tells them that he killed her. They ask to see the body and he takes the soldier to see her. He put her in sleeper mode so it looked like she was dead and he tells him to get rid of the body. As the soldier is leaving he finds Oliver’s bag with his computer full of evidence.

Lair Reveal

The gang is checking out the new lair and Laurel asks Thea to wait a couple of more days before telling Oliver about Sara. Oliver announces to the team his plan to run for mayor but they think he’s joking, at first. Once they realize he’s serious they have a ton of questions and Oliver doesn’t feel like they’re being supportive. They tell him they want to make sure he’s not getting in over his head and then he shows them the legit hidden lair. The lair is pretty freaking awesome, and roomy, and well stocked thanks to Cisco and Star Labs.

The team gets an alert about two cops who’ve been killed and Oliver pays Quentin  a visit where he tells him about he’s running for mayor and would like his support. Quentin pretty much thinks he’s going to die and hands over evidence from the crime scene for his team to analyze. Felicity thinks Curtis is trying to prank her but he tells her that the code showing up on her phone is two years old but it looks familiar. He tell her it’s Ray’s older code and he tells her it’s his last recorded message before we die.

At the lair, Felicity analyzes the sim card and determines where it came from. The team (minus Laurel) head to the location and find military grade weapons and cop gear. Meanwhile, Laurel takes Quentin to where she’s keeping Sara chained up (because that’s not weird). He asks how it’s possible and she tells him about the pit but he doesn’t believe she’s his daughter. Laurel tries to convince him that they have to be patient and she tries to jog her memories with photos. It looks like she may be coming around but she gets her chain around Laurel’s neck and tries to choke her.

It’s Not Handled

Oliver tells Quentin about the dirty cops and their plan stash some drugs in a warehouse but he wants to be there when the trap goes down. The dirty cops come in blazing and well prepared stopping Team Arrow at every turn. They get the drugs and get away and Quentin tells them that they were indeed cops. They head back to the lair (with Quentin in tow) and tells them that they were using the vigilante anti-task force equipment and Quentin heads back to the station to get more info.

The dirty cops want to take out Quentin but the sole woman, Liza, tells them that they’re going to go about it a different way. Quentin goes to Damien and asks for his help with Sara since he used to be apart of the league. Damien tells him if it was his daughter he’d put her down because she doesn’t posses her soul and the best thing he can do is return her to her final rest.

Felicity meets up with Curtis who tells her that she knows the password to unlock the message. She tells him that Ray was her ex-boyfriend which is why she doesn’t want to hear the message. Curtis shares his story about his brother who recently passed and how he’d want to hear a lost message from him if he had a chance.

Felicity connects Liza to the vigilante task force and as they’re watching security footage trying to pinpoint her whereabouts Oliver notices an image of Quentin talking to Damien. Oliver goes to talk to Quentin and tells him he knows he’s been talking to Damien and realizes he knows who he is. Quentin tells him he’s been working with him for over two months because he came to him saying he wanted to help. By the time he figured out who he was he threatened Laurel. Oliver goes off and tells him to stop hiding behind his daughters and he was the reason why he was even thinking about running for mayor because he wanted him to see the kind of man he’d become. He asks him what he’s going to do and he tells him he doesn’t know.

Redemption

Thea finds Oliver sitting alone in the campaign office and he reminisces on an old memory and tells her that that was the city he wanted to be mayor of. She asks him what he means and he tells her that he’s not going to run because he thinks the city is far from saving.

Lance goes to Sara to kill her but Laurel shows up and tells him that he’s not going to kill his daughter. He breaks down and apologizes before quickly leaving. As he’s leaving the dirty cops show up and snatch him. As they’re leaving Laurel comes up and tries to stop them but one of them uses a taser on her. They take him to the department’s contraband disposal facility and force him to unlock the door. Felicity tracks down his last location and the team show up and stops the dirty cops from leaving. Liza gets loose from her hold and throws a knife into Oliver’s spine and threatens to kill him but Quentin talks her down by telling her that they’re not beyond redemption and they can’t stop believing or the city will die. The only way they may be able to save their home is to save themselves first.

Oliver pays Quentin a visit and tells him that what he said to Liza saved his life. He asks him if he believes what he said and Quentin tells him he does and plans to turn himself in. Oliver tells him he doesn’t need to do that, that he’s the closest they’ve been able to get to Damien and asks him to be their inside man.

Oliver returns to the campaign office to a room full of interns ready to help him with is campaign. Thea hands him his speech and tells him that she only told them what she already knows. Oliver holds a press conference making his case to the city. We end with Laurel returning home to find Sara has escaped.

Some takeaways…

  • So next week we get a crossover with Constatine who I had to Google and double check that they were still cancelled. Don’t know how that will all play out but maybe the next episode will breath new life into the series (I had to).
  • Finally glad that Quentin’s grudge with Oliver is over… for now. That was like that annoying scratch that’s always there but no matter what you do it just seems to linger. Now that the scratch is gone I’m excited to see how their relationship plays out moving forward. This just came to me, could Quentin be the one in the grave?
  • I feel like Arrow and The Flash’s first half of the season is one long setup for Legends of Tomorrow. We all know at the end of this Sara is going to come out good. I was just like, really, did she not think she could escape… must we go back to how she power leaped out of the pit.
  • Speaking of Legends of Tomorrow, I’ll be glad when they learn that Ray is still alive. Every time they mention him, in my head, I’m like “but he’s not dead!” so there’s that.
  • Not gone lie, the flashbacks seem to be getting shorter and shorter. As do the final fight scenes. It just seems to resolve itself in like 90 seconds.
