SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
We’ve got soul-less people running around and a mystical soul catcher… all in one episode. Yea, this isn’t your typical Arrow show. I’ve got all you need to know in the recap below!
Conklin (the soldier guy) tells Reiter that he believes Oliver is a mole but he tells him he’s not because they caught someone spying on them in the field. This person just happens to be Constantine. With some type of magic he gets free and holds Oliver at gunpoint forcing the men down. He takes him hostage since he knows the place on the map he’s searching for. Oliver takes him to the spot and Constantine does some magic then opens a hidden door. They go down and he finds what he was looking for. When he remove it a trap releases and Oliver pushes him out of the way. He thanks him and tells him he owes him one then suggests he come with him but Oliver tells him he can’t leave the people behind. Before leaving he gives him some insurance against Reiter by transferring a tattoo to him.
The Blonde Murderer
Thea has selected Alex Davis, a political strategist, to help Oliver take office with majority of the vote. He tells Oliver that he needs to distance himself from Laurel due to their history if he wants to convince the city they can be united.
Sara is loose and she’s leaving a trail of dead bodies in her wake. Quentin realizes that she’s loose and confronts Laurel about it because she didn’t tell anyone, including Oliver, that she was missing. He goes to Damien who wants him to plug a device to a federal server farm. While sparring Thea tells Oliver that she doesn’t agree with Alex that he should distance himself from Laurel because she’s his friend. Felicity gets an alert about the blonde woman who’s been killing people and Oliver gets there to find Laurel trying to restrain Sara but she escapes once he realizes who she is.
Back at the lair Laurel and Thea come clean about putting Sara in the lair. He tells Laurel that she continues to play with forces she doesn’t understand causing people to die. Plus she should’ve came to him immediately when she got loose. Quentin goes to Oliver and freaks out about the device Damien wants him to use. He connects him with Diggle who wants to hear the entire story before he’ll budge. He agrees to work with him because he believes Quentin working close to Damien will help them bring down H.I.V.E.
They go to the federal server farm and attach the device but Diggle notices his brother’s name. Quentin goes back and asks Damien about it and he tells him they had him killed because he was dirty.
Felicity tells Oliver about Ray’s recording and he shares about wanting to be able to talk to his parents and Tommy again. He then tries to figure out what the connection is between the girls Sara has been attacking and they realize they all look like Thea. They try to call her but Sara jumps into the apartment and starts attacking Thea and she barely escapes.
Thea ends up in the hospital and Oliver and Felicity rush to her side. She tells them about how Malcolm gave her two men to killed to keep her blood lust at bay. Laurel shows up and Oliver pulls her aside and goes in on her about going to Nanda Parbat. She turns it back on him and calls him a hypocrite and that she did the same thing he did pretty much. She tells him he doesn’t see him as an equal and wishes he cared about her family as much as she cares about his.
Laurel apologizes to Thea for bringing Sara back and she tells her that the only way to cure Sara is if she kills her but she tells her that’s not going to happen. While she’s sleeping Sara shows up (while Oliver and Laurel are in the hall) and she tells her that she knows why she’s there. As she’s choking her Oliver hears and they rush in and Sara escapes.
The team reconvenes at the lair and Thea makes the connection that the pit is what’s connecting them and how Sara can find her. She tells them she’ll be the bait to draw her out. Thea goes out in the open and Sara comes flying in. They try to contain her, but she’s beyond crazy. Oliver hits her with a tranq arrow but Laurel wants to kill her. He tells her that they’re going to get her soul back and he calls Constantine. He shows up, soon followed by Quentin, and sets out to restore her soul to her body.
He can only take two people to the other realm and Oliver and Laurel go. They cross over and hear screaming and are led to Sara who’s being held in the pit. Laurel and Oliver have to work together to free her while Constantine fights off one of the “things”. They pull Sara free and return to the living and it’s all happy tears. Before leaving, Constantine warns Oliver about Damien and suggest he leave town while he still can.
Quentin takes the file to Diggle on his brother telling him why H.I.V.E. killed him. While Felicity checks in on Curtis who is cleaning up the audio from Roy. They listen to it and it’s a message from him telling her that he’s still alive and he’s in trouble.
Some takeaways…
- So, I never watched Constantine but he was an interesting addition to the show. Most of the time I was thinking that this might be a little too “mystical” for me but he served his purpose.
- Ray’s alive… but we knew that already and Sara has her soul back. Kind of figured that out too. Legends of Tomorrow premieres mid-season so at least we’ll be able to focus on Damien Darhk and wrap up these spinoff storylines.
- I’m ready to see this Damien Darhk showdown and who dies because if someone who deals is mystical craziness (Constantine) tells you to pack up your ish and go… ya might want to listen to him.
