SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
Oh how I love when everyone pitches in and we get a huge Team Arrow showdown. It was fun seeing everyone get in on the action and even a little unsuspected spark at the end. Read the recap below!
Oliver takes Reiter and Conklin to the tunnel Constantine showed him and Reiter shows them an ancient etched message translates to a heart of water and is supposed to lead to a special gift. He asks Oliver if he’s seen a cove on the island and he tells him he knows of one. He has him take a group of workers to lead an excavation at the cove until they find his gift. Oliver goes to take lunch which includes paying the girl he saved a visit to ask if she knows anything about magic being used because he suspects Reiter it’s after something other than drugs. Conklin has sent one of the guys after Oliver to kill him and he sneaks up and tries to drown him in the water. Oliver gets the upper hand and snaps his neck but when he looks at the shore all of the people are watching him.
I See You Ray
Oliver and Thea try to discuss the campaign budget with Alex but Felicity is tied up at Palmer Tech. After Oliver leaves Alex tries to ask Thea out on the slick but they agree that it’s not a good idea. Curtis returns to the office to find Felicity going crazy trying to trace Ray’s recording but Oliver interrupts to check on her. She plays him the recording of Ray that was sent six days ago proving he’s still alive.
Oliver takes Felicity home and tries to convince her to shower and take a nap but she gets an alert. They go to the computer and they get a live feed of Ray who tells them that he’s being held captive and his captors want his suit. Felicity comes up with an idea and needs to go back to Palmer Tech but when Oliver volunteers to help she tells him he can’t.
Back at Palmer Tech, Felicity enlists Curtis to help build a machine to help make Ray bigger but a part that they need is patented by Kord Industries. Before they can do anything Felicity’s mother shows up with a little help from Oliver. The team, including Sara, goes on a mission to get the Quantum Manifold from Kord Industries but things turn bad when an alarm is set off. Sara beats one of the guards really bad and they have to pull her off him. Felicity gets another feed from Ray and she gives him the news that they got the part but as they’re talking Damien Darhk appears and the feed cuts off. He now knows Felicity’s name and makes the connection that she’s the one running Palmer Tech.
Felicity tells Oliver and Diggle that Darhk has Ray and Oliver tells her it’s a good thing that he has Ray because Quentin could find out what’s going on. He suggests Felicity spend time with her mother but she doesn’t think it’s the time for socializing but Oliver insists they all have dinner.
Oliver returns home to find that Donna has under cooked the chicken. She senses the tension between Felicity and Oliver and decides to go get takeout. Oliver tries to talk to Felicity but she believes that what happened to Ray is her fault. She wasn’t there to receive his distress calls earlier because she was spending all of her time with Oliver. She tells him she lost herself in him and it’s not who she is. He realizes that it’s not about Ray but about them and Felicity tells him it is and he leaves.
He goes back to the lair where Diggle finds him and they share a drink. Oliver tells him what Felicity said and Diggle hints at jealousy. Oliver tells him he always wonders why him but Diggle tells him that she chose him. He tells him to give it some time before getting a message from Quentin telling him he’s meeting with Dahrk soon. Donna talks to Felicity and tells her that she’s not like her and Oliver isn’t like her father; he loves her. Felicity tells her it’s too easy to lose herself in him but Donna tells her that;s how it’s supposed to feel when you love someone.
The team is called back to the lair after Diggle followed Dahrk to where he’s holding Ray. The place is like a fortress, they come up with a plan that includes Curtis and Sara, with some hesitation, but once on the roof Oliver gets knocked out from behind.
Oliver wakes up chained to and face to face with Dahrk. Come to find out this is apart of the plan and Diggle is posing as a guard. Felicity and Curtis zip tie in as Thea, Laurel and Sara take on the Darhk’s men. Back with Oliver, Darhk goes to reveal Oliver’s face but he swings and kicks him back. He tries to shoot him with an arrow but he stops it and uses his power to choke him with the chains. Oliver throws something that explodes, causing a distraction, and disappears.
Meanwhile, Felicity and Curtis use the gun to return Ray to his normal size. They give the call that they’re good to go but Sara gets one of the guards in a choke hold and kills him by snapping his neck. They reconvene at the lair and find that Ray is still the same and Felicity offers to take him home.
Sara tells Laurel and Thea that she can’t deal with the urge to kill and believes she needs to have a fresh start. She tells them that she’s going to travel a little until she can figure things out. Felicity returns home and thanks Oliver for helping to save Ray and he apologizes for not being a good listener. She tells him that they’re going to be find because they found themselves in each other… enter makeout scene.
We find out that Darhk is able to use residue recovered from Ray’s dwarf star alloy and use it as a power source. He plans to test it out on what looks like a bunch of squares that look like pictures. Pretty sure we’ll find out exactly what they are soon.
Some takeaways…
- About that Donna and Quentin scene, I mean hey parents need to be happy too.
- So, Ray’s back… I mean who didn’t know that. Let’s see if he’ll stick around and help out until the mid-season finale seeing as Sara has already left the building. Although, I suspect that she might make an appearance on the mid-season finale seeing as it’s supposed to be a huge tie in with The Flash ad Legends of Tomorrow.
- That Olicity squabble was a little eh, but hey at least every episode hasn’t been dripping in Olicity love juice (that’s probably gross). Nice to see Donna but I kind of wanted more. Maybe she’ll stick around for a little bit if her and Quentin hit it off.
- Speaking of Quentin, I know I’ve mentioned previously about what exactly to call him. He went from detective to office then back to detective and now chief. Oliver and crew just call him Lance but I honestly like using the government. So Quentin it is.
