SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
I hope you enjoyed our short hiatus– I know I have. I am glad to be back because I’m trying to see who is in this grave. It was an intense episode with a lot of different feels and I’ve got it all in my recap below!
Oliver collapses from blood loss while Conklin leads them back to camp. Once there Conklin turns over the maps to Reiter and Oliver tells him he got them for him but Reiter doesn’t buy it. He lets Conklin take him outside and whip him on the back in front of the rest of the camp. Reiter stops him once he sees a sign glowing on Oliver’s abdomen telling Conklin that he needs him. While they’re talking Oliver snatches Conklin’s gun and puts it to head telling him that he’s not going to run. Oliver tells Reiter he’ll help if he ensures Taiana’s safety and he agrees.
A Machin Trail
We open four months in the future with Oliver talking to Barry at a grave. He tells him it’s his responsibility to end “it” and kill him. We go back to the present and Felicity is being rushed into the emergency room interwoven with flashes of Oliver beaten the shit out of one of Darhk’s man looking for him. He’s not getting any information and tells Diggle that Andy is their best chance of catching Darhk.
The team visit with Felicity before she goes into her final surgery. She tells them that she’s going to be fine and Diggle goes to talk to Andy about Darhk. He beats the crap out of his brother trying to get him to talk. Meanwhile, Oliver pays Quentin a visit to ask where he’s been meeting with Darhk. He tells him but that means he blows his cover and can’t go home.
Oliver arrives at the meeting spot and finds a bunch of Darhk’s men dead and a bloody A; a sign from Lonnie Machin. Machin is after Darhk for giving up his location after a kidnapping. Diggle returns home and gets some wisdom from Lyla who tells him that he needs to stop treating Andy like a ghost and more like his brother; then maybe he’d be able to get through to him.
Thea confides in Laurel about what happened when she ran into Darhk and feels it’s her fault that Machin has a blood lust of his own. They walk in on Quentin and Donna canoodling and find out from Quentin that the blood results from Machin’s sign match his foster parents. The team hacks into the security footage at his old home and spot him on the camera. They head over there and find him waiting for Darhk’s men. It’s a trap and he escapes while guns go off and Thea runs after him. She gets blown back and Machin tells him that he’s not going to kill her because she saved him. She pulls back her arrow and Laurel appears with her canary cry while Diggle hits him with a right hook.
They take Machin to an isolated location to question him but Thea believes he needs to be locked up right away. Oliver starts his interrogation but Thea interrupts telling him that Felicity is out of surgery but it doesn’t sound good. Oliver leaves immediately leaving Thea with Machin. He taunts her and tells her that she can’t control herself but he sees the hunger in her eyes to kill. She pulls out an arrow and puts it to his throat just as the police show up.
Diggle goes to talk to Andy again taking a different approach. Andy tells him that he tried to take the straight and narrow but that’s not him and all Diggle cared about was himself. Diggle tells him that Darhk crossed a line by going after Felicity and asks him brother to brother where he can find him. Andy tells him that he always talked about Stonehaven and tells him they’re even.
Oliver gets to the hospital and Donna tells him that the doctors can’t fix the damage to her spinal cord and she’ll never walk again. Oliver sees on the screen that Machin was arrested and goes after the police van he’s in stopping it so that he can finish getting information out of him. He tells him that he’s not talking so Oliver breaks off his cuffs and tells him to make sure he’s dead.
Oliver returns to the lair to find a pissed off Laurel and he tells her that she made it necessary for him to release him. He tells her he put a tracker on him so that he leads him to Darhk. Diggle walks in and tells him the information he got from Andy was a dead end. Thea returns as they’re following Machin’s tracker but they lose him. Diggle tells Oliver to go be with Felicity and let them deal with finding Machin and Darhk.
Oliver goes to Felicity and tells her that he feels like Darhk is winning because he hasn’t been willing to go far enough to protect the people he loves. She asks him what’s the point if he ends up losing himself in the process. She then brings up her diagnosis and tells him that maybe he hasn’t been there because of it but he ensures her that he’s with her for better or for worse.
Laurel shows up and tells him that they cross referenced the last location of the tracker and found out that it matched with the location of Stonehaven. They head there and find Machin has tied up Darhk’s wife and daughter and is about to torture them with fire. Oliver and Thea take on Machin while Diggle and Laurel get the girls out of the house. Machin escapes into the woods and Thea goes after him tying him to a tree. She shoots an arrow at him but misses and he breaks free overpowering her before escaping. Oliver sees Darhk and they fight each other. Darhk throws arrows into Oliver’s arm and asks for his family and he tells him he saved them. Darhk tells him he’ll give him a few weeks with his family to enjoy what’s left of his time.
Back at the lair Diggle goes to Andy’s cell and they play a hand of cards. Oliver returns to the hospital and asks Felicity if she wants to go to Bali. She tells him if Darhk is still in Starling then they still have work to do. Darhk is with his family on the way to a hotel and he tells Ruve that Machin has been taken care of. She tells him he should’ve killed the Green Arrow because Genesis is too close to play games. He tells her it would’ve been in bad form to kill him when he saved their lives and tells her that she will have a new beginning once they’ve brought the world to its end.
We flash forward four months again and Oliver gets into a limo with Felicity in the back. They asks each other if they’re okay and he tells her he’s not. She tells him that he has to kill the son of a bitch.
Some takeaways…
- So Felicity is still here… just paralyzed. We’ll see how that plays out but I kind of feel like she won’t be paralyzed for that long. I mean, doesn’t she have Star Labs and Ray on speed dial?
- We can always count on Lyla to lay down some very poignant wisdom. It was nice to see Diggle being a brother but Andy is one stubborn SOB.
- The tension building up to this final showdown between Oliver and Darhk is so intense that I’m almost scared to see how it plays out.
- We still don’t know who’s in the grave. It’s someone that not only brings Barry back but has Oliver and Felicity pissed. Quentin is still an option but could it possibly be Diggle? Y’all know Diggle is the guy and they def can’t kill him off. Another option is Thea or Laurel but I just don’t see it being one of them. Plus if it was Thea I think Oliver would be on the floor since that’s pretty much his only blood family.
I don’t know but I want to know what you think! Who’s in the grave? Are you here for a paralyzed Felicity? Let me know below and on Twitter!
