A Vixen’s Magic
Felicity has implanted Curtis tech and tries walking again through physical therapy. She doesn’t immediately start walking and Paul tells her that it’s going to take some time.In the parking garage leaving physical therapy Oliver and Felicity are interrupted by Darhk who tells Oliver that he has his son William. He tells him he has until 6 pm Friday to drop out of the mayoral race. Felicity is confused and asks who William is and he tells her he’s his son.
Back at the lair, he tries to explain but Felicity is more upset that he never told her about his son. He tells her about Samantha’s ultimatum just as the team enters and they tell them what happened. Felicity finds out that Thea knew about his son as well as Barry and Malcolm. Samantha shows up at the campaign office freaking out blaming Oliver for him being missing. He gets her to tell him what happened and she tells him that when she went to get him for dinner he was gone. She tells him Barry Allen pulled her aside and told her to talk to him but she continues to freak out and Oliver has to tell her that he’s the Green Arrow.
The team tries to figure out a new way to beat Darhk and Oliver tells them that Mari MaCabe aka Vixen might be able to help. He goes to Detroit and tells her he needs her help in Star City. She tells them that she’s going to help them find William with magic. She uses his favorite toy to to determine that he’s in the city. The team jumps into action to try to locate his exact location.
Thea returns home to find her father lurking and he tries to explain why he didn’t give up her seat. She asks him if he gave Darhk William and he tells her he won’t tell her that because she should know him better than that. Meanwhile, Oliver gets a little fatherly advice from Diggle who tells him that you keep your children safe by keeping them close.
While creating a profile on William Samantha tells Felicity that she’s the one who made Oliver choose between her and knowing his son. If she wants to be mad with someone it should be her. They locate the place where William is being held and the team descends on it taking down the guards. Oliver bursts into the room where Darhk is and Darhk tells him that he had William moved. Vixen bursts in and tries to get answers but Darhk holds her back so she tries to transform and he focuses his attention on her while Oliver attacks him. He and Oliver fist fight before Darhk throws him out of the window. Vixen grabs him by the hand and pulls him in as the rest of the team run in. Darhk has escaped yet again and now Vixen can no longer track William.
Darhk calls Oliver and tells him he needs to announce he’s dropping out of the rest immediately. He also tells him that he needs to announce his support of Ruve. Mari apologizes for not being able to stop him but realizes that he may have an object that gives him his power like her necklace does for her. Oliver holds a press conference and announces he’s suspending his campaign and fully supporting Ruve.
Felicity tells Oliver that Samantha told her about the ultimatum and he tells her about his talk with Diggle. They get a call from Mari and back at the lair she tells the team that Darhk’s object is an idol so they try to track him by the ley lines. Samantha gets upset with Oliver because they still haven’t gotten William back. Mari tells Oliver he shouldn’t beat himself up and that when they do get him back he might want to let him go for good. She tells him about her childhood and the best gift he can give him is his childhood.
Just as the team locates the idol Darhk calls to tell Oliver to meet him in three hours to get William. The team thinks they should follow through with destroying the idol. Oliver asks Samantha what she thinks they should do since William is her son and she tells him he’s his son too so get him back and destroy Darhk.
The team descends on the house and Vixen bursts through the roof stealing Darhk’s idol. Darhk exits and starts to choke Oliver, Thea and Laurel as Vixen works on destroying his idol. William comes outside begging Darhk to stop just as Vixen breaks the idol. Darhk loses his power and Oliver fights him taking him down just as the police show up.
William is returned to Samantha and Quintin tells them that Darhk isn’t the one who took him, Malcolm did. Thea confronts Malcolm about it and he tells her he did it to protect them. She tells him she’s done listening to his lies and he tells her that she would be dead if it wasn’t for him. He tells her he would rather she hate him and be alive than love him and be dead.
Oliver makes a video for William telling him that he’s his father and explaining that he’s the Green Arrow. He also explains why he had Samantha take him far away and wait to show him the video until after his 18th birthday. Once he’s done Felicity enters and tells him that she needs space and can’t marry him at the moment. She tells him that she doesn’t think he knows how to include his partner in the decisions he makes. As she’s talking her legs start moving and she gets up and walks out.
Some takeaways…
- I knew that Felicity would eventually walk again I just didn’t expect it would happen so suddenly.
- Soooo since Darhk’s idol is destroyed what does that mean for Darhk? I know we’re going to eventually answer this because he is the big bad of the season. Plus, we still have to find out who he puts in the grave. Pretty sure he’ll be able to get his power from some other source, I mean we still have the finale battle to look forward to.
- I get it that Oliver wants to protect William (and it’s a convenient way to not have to write a kid into the story) but missing out on 18 years of your child’s life is irreplaceable. You just can’t get that time back. Me personally, I would feel some type of way even after finding out the truth. Maybe that’s just me.
- Felicity, girl, I get it – you’re tired of Oliver with his bs lies but I do think the last “argument” if you will was a little dramatic. We’ll see how long this “break” lasts.
Did Oliver make the right decision in having Samantha take William away? Is Felicity tripping? Let me know below and on Twitter!
