SPOILER ALERT! (stop reading if you don’t want to know what happens in this episode)
The team calls in some extra help as they try to stop Darhk and dismantle the Rubicon. I’ve got all the details in my recap below!
Oliver has Taiana help the captives get to safety while he goes after Reiter. He finds him and tries to take him down but nothing is sticking. Reiter is about to kill him when Taiana shows up saving him. They temporarily get him down while they grab the idol and run. As they’re escaping the idol takes over Taiana.
Underground Prison
Malcolm, with a new robotic hand, pays Thea a visit telling her she’s trapped to keep her safe. He tells her Darhk’s plan to nuke the entire world but they will be protected “down here” which means this haven is underground. He tells her that the world needs saving but she tells him he’s crazy. She tells him she wants to see Alex and she could be stuck there and compliant or a pain in the ass. When she sees him he’s still talking crazy and she tries to talk him out of it.
Malcolm tells her that Lonnie is in the hub and they need to stop him before he damages the air supply causing everyone to suffocate. She finds him as he’s about to turn the dial and tries to talk him out of killing the innocent people who are down there. She tells him that she’ll help him take down Darhk but Malcolm shows up shooting him with an arrow and Lonnie runs. DArhk tells her Lonnie set up explosives and they work to disarm them.
Thea goes to find Alex and finds him knocked out thanks to Lonnie who now plans to stick around to wait for Darhk to show up. He asks her why she’s always tethered to some guy because she can take care of herself; she’s a queen. They fight but during the battle Alex wakes up and she tells him to run. Lonnie tells her she’s liberating him before electrocuting him. She takes him down and checks on Alex who seems to still be alive.
The team finds out they have under 21 hours to disable Rubicon and Felicity suggests asking her father Noah for help in hacking it. While Felicity works on Rubicon Oliver and Diggle work to to find Darhk. Darhk sends a couple of his goonies to track down The Calculator to kill him. When Oliver and Diggle arrive at his supposed location they find footage of H.I.V.E. looking for him.
Donna ass was snooping through Quentin’s stuff and found papers that he’d been suspended. She confronts him about it because he signed that he didn’t know Laurel was Black Canary which is a lie. He tells her it was a complicated lie because he’s protecting her but she tells him they’re asking them to lie. She tells him that she knows he’s not a liar and has faith that he’ll do the right thing. As he’s about to sign he has her read it again and he had some edits made saying that he knew Laurel was the Black Canary.
Felicity reaches out to her mother and asks her if Ravenspur means anything to her. She tells her it was a cabin that her and Noah used to go to. Felicity sends Oliver and Diggle there and they get there just as he’s about to square off with Darhk’s goonies. They take down the goonies while Felicity has her father get in her car. She takes him back to her and Oliver’s old apartment and tells him about Rubicon and how long they have to stop it. He immediately gets to work telling her while he might be a terrible father he’s not a monster. He tells her he needs the Quantum processor but when she goes to get it from Palmer Tech she finds out that the board voted to terminate her immediately. She’s escorted out before she can get what she needs.
Oliver and Diggle decide that they’ll just need to steal the device. Felicity and her father break into Palmer Tech while Oliver tries to hold off security. They end up tripping off an alarm so Noah has to copy the processor to his device and they barely escape. As Noah works to disarm the Rubicon he asks him for advice on Felicity but he tells him living a double life doesn’t work. He hits a “tapeworm” and tells him they have about 90 seconds to shut it down before H.I.V.E. shows up. They show up and Oliver, Diggle and ARGUS fight to hold them off.
They have less than three minutes to disarm Rubicon before it launches the nukes. They’re able to disarm all of them except the one heading to Monument Point. Although the nukes didn’t launch Rubicon keeps trying to launch so they have to override them one by one. Lyla calls to have Monument Point evacuated. They find out City Hall is being evacuated and head there because they believe that’s where he’s harboring his power. Felicity tells them she’ll need to move the GPS point to trick the nuke into going to a different location which ends up being Havens Rock causing tens of thousands of casualties compared to a couple million.
Oliver and Diggle search City Hall and find a hidden door that leads them to Darhk and his idol.
Some takeaways…
- We still have two episodes to go and I think they’re going to be pretty intense. I don’t think we’ll get any more major deaths this season but I could be wrong. I think we’ve got a pretty succinct crew.
- I knew Diggle lying was going to come back and until he tells Lyla the truth it’s going to be a hovering bomb waiting to go off. For once listen to Oliver and tell her the truth about Andy.
- It looks like they’re going to brainwash Thea and we’re going to see her face off against Oliver. I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to to get her back to the good side but it’ll be fun to see.
Will the team take down Darhk for good or is he just too powerful? Let me know below and on Twitter!
