We’re back! Oliver is mayor, the team is missing key members and new threats have descended on Star City. I’ve got my recap below!
We’re in Russia and Oliver is fighting for money but he ends up killing the opposing group’s top earner. They snatch him up but Anatoly shows up and saves him. Oliver tells him he’s there to kill Konstantin Kovar. Anatoly tells him Bratva is the only group that can get pass Kovar’s security. He tells him if he can get through fighting all of Bratva then he can start the process of becoming Bratva.
Mayor Queen
Oliver is mayor and running late to the police gala which is supposed to kickoff for the city’s anti-crime initiative due to trying to stop mason from setting off four bombs. He’s interrupted by Wild Dog who wants to help but he tells him he doesn’t want to see him fighting on the streets again.
Felicity tells Oliver he should consider creating a new team but he believes Diggle and Thea will come back. Oliver pays Quentin who’s back in town and drinking again after breaking up with Donna.
Tobias Church is in Star City causing problems but Felicity doesn’t believe Oliver is ready to go after him without a team. She sends Curtis to Wild Dog’s address to find out more info about him.
The city honors Laurel’s memory with a Black Canary statue but during the reveal Church’s gang shows up shooting and take Oliver and a bunch of other attendees hostage. Felicity tries to track Oliver but all cameras are down. She suggests Thea suit up but she … that down and tells her to hack the police department.
Thea and Quentin have a moment about where they are in their lives at the moment after Laurel. Thea is finally feeling like herself but Quentin tells her that after listening to Oliver’s speech he realizes he needs to move on with his life.
Church is clearly trying to bait Green Arrow but Oliver tells him that he’s tied up and tries to make a deal with him. Church isn’t for this and has Oliver taken away after he calls him stupid. A dirty cop takes him away and as he’s punching him Oliver dislocates thumbs and gets free killing him. Thea shows up as Speedy to help and they get away.
Thea confronts Oliver about killing the cop but he tells her that if he’d shown more restraint Laurel would be alive. He tells her he’s not going to make the mistake of taking the high road instead of saving lives so he’ll do whatever necessary. She tells him she can’t go back out there with him because putting death on the table is a huge step backward.
Felicity shows him a list of possible team members but he tells them that he doesn’t want to put more people in the crosshairs after what happened to Laurel. He talks to Quentin at Laurel’s statue and Quentin tells him that he can’t take on Church and his guys alone. He gives him a list of law enforcement people he can trust and tells him that they both need to move forward.
The law enforcement task force descends on Church’s location to help save the hostages. They save the hostages before the entire building blows. Oliver takes on Church who tries to escape by helicopter. Oliver has him for a little bit but Church knocks him off. The next day Oliver honors the four officers who helped save the hostages an names them as the Anti-Crime Unit. Felicity finds Oliver looking at possible recruits when Curtis shows up telling them about being jumped and that the only way he’ll tell them anything is if he’s recruited too.
Oliver chats with Diggle about if it’s a good idea to form a new team and he tells him he should go for it. One of the cops from the Anti-Crime Unit is killed by Prometheus as he’s on his way home.
A few tidbits…
- Well that was some type of premiere. Not going to lie, I’m still trying to process a few things.
- It looks like we’re going to have two villains causing havoc, Church and Prometheus. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be intense and I like a good intense villain. Apparently he’s going to be somewhat sociopathic and has a personal grudge towards Ollie. I can’t wait to see this face-off!
- I’m ready to see what this new team is talking about. I’m excited that Rick Gonzales is apart of the show so looking forward to seeing what he’s brings as Wild Dog.
- Other than that, it was a solid premiere. We’ll be wrapping of the flashbacks soon and we get to see Oliver juggle being the mayor and a vigilante. Fun stuff!
