ONCE I HIT 30 MY SKINCARE ROUTINE HAD TO CHANGE
I have been on a very interesting skincare journey over the past year. I went from having little to no skincare routine to having a routine that has completely overhauled the look and feel of my skin.
Once I hit 30 I realized that I really didn’t have an actual skincare routine. Add this with trying to eliminate toxic products from my beauty arsenal and it’s been an eye opening ride. I’ve been exploring beauty products that are clean, cruelty free and gentle on my skin and I think I’ve found some pretty hardcore staples.
To kick off my mini skincare series I’m starting with my new favorite daily cleanser. When it comes to trying or buying new products I immediately start calculating the cost per use. This is extremely important, especially when you start buying higher priced beauty products. This, plus what’s actually inside the bottle, can push me towards purchasing or passing up a product.
AN ACCIDENTAL ENCOUNTER
I found Youth To The People sort of by accident. I had just finished up a daily cleanser that I was on the fence about and was at Sephora with a friend when I decided to browse the clean beauty options. I was immediately pulled in by the name of this cleanser. The Kale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser may seem like a wordy name for a skincare product but I found simplicity in this pale green cleanser. From the name I know this cleanser contains kale, green tea and spinach, but can it really be that simple? I flipped the box over and low and behold I could understand all of the ingredients!
In case you haven’t gathered by now, I’m not really an impulse buyer and with most things I like to do a little bit of research before spending my coins. I went home and googled this product to read up on customer reviews. The tricky thing about reviews in the beauty space is that everyone’s experience is different. With that in mind I more so look at where on the rating scale the product skews. This skewed pretty high and after determining that the cost per use would be beneficial I decided to take the plunge.
BUT IS IT WORTH THE COST?
This cleanser was $36 and I originally calculated that it would last me about three months. I’m currently on the sixth month and I’m pretty sure this will last me at least one more month. For the cost, this totally exceeded my expectations! Being completely transparent, I mostly use this once a day in the morning and occasionally twice a day.
As for the actual product, I was refreshingly surprised at first pump that this cleanser literally smelled like vegetables. With all of the artificial smells in a lot of the products we use I was completely okay with this au natural scent. This sort of acted as a wake me up in the morning since I use this in the shower. The cleanser has a subtle sudsy feel and once rinsed off it doesn’t leave my skin dry or looking dull. This even works at gently removing makeup without irritating my eyes. I didn’t have a negative reaction after initial use like with some other products which caused my skin to freak out.
Overall, I would definitely recommend trying out this cleanser if you have a normal skin type with occasional dry patches. This cleanser has become a staple in my skincare routine and I will definitely repurchase. Let me know if you’ve tried this or other Youth To The People products. I’d love to hear about your experiences!
