IT’S MID FINALE TIME AND THESE SHOWS WENT OUT WITH A BANG… OR FIZZLE!
Another round of shows ended their fall season and I definitely had strong feelings about this batch of TV. I give my final thoughts on Manifest, The Gifted and How to Get Away with Murder. I also give a quick summary of my thoughts on the long awaited third season of True Detective. Check out the episode to hear all of my thoughts. I’ve included a quick summary below!
TRUE DETECTIVE
The first season of True Detective came on the scene strong followed by a slightly disappointing second season. Hearing that the third season would be starring Mahershala Ali gave a lot of hope that we’d see things turnaround. Like previous seasons the acting was very strong.
I did like the storyline for this season and I loved seeing Ali portray his character in the three different timelines. I did feel like we wrapped up the story vaguely and I left feeling like I still had some questions. So with that being said, there was still something missing a little in the story for me but overall a definite improvement from season 2.
MANIFEST
Manifest wrapped up the season with a very big cliffhanger. This show was one of my surprise favorites of the season and just when I thought they couldn’t go somewhere new with the story they proved me wrong. There were still some predictable moments like Michaela hooking up with Jared but I think it was overall a solid season.

I do want to learn more about the why this is happening versus the who. We did get a few answers this season but I think there are still some big questions we haven’t addressed. With the revelation that our returned will soon die that’s even more incentive to start answering some of our bigger questions from season 1.
THE GIFTED
The Gifted went out with a fizzle after a season that saw our core group going head to head with each other. After much hype about Reeva Page (Grace Byers) I feel like once we returned from our winter break she kind of disappeared. Her presence wasn’t as strong as we started wrapping up the season so her death was surprising or emotional.

We did have to say goodbye to one of our core members, Reed (Stephen Moyer) who sacrificed himself to pretty much save the world. I did like that we learned more about the Strucker family and continued to play with the theme of family. Blink is not dead and has returned from the future? to get the team’s help. Still up in the air on if we’ll get a season 3 but we weren’t left with that big of a cliffhanger.
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER
How to Get Away with Murder ended the season with another convoluted plot that somehow involved the Castillos again. After trying to prove if Miller set up Nate’s father to die we find out that Laurel’s brother was behind everything along with the Governor. I’ve pretty much come to expect these types of crazy story lines from this show and it’s still why I watch. The Keating 5, now 6 (kind of?), still struggle with their own conscience about their part in everything up to this point.

We see not only the kids, but Analise struggle with wanting end this crazy cycle of death. At the end of the day, Annalise is still the only true innocent in all of this so I wouldn’t be surprised if she eventually wipes her hands of everything. We end the season on one of the series biggest cliffhangers as Laurel and baby Kristoff are missing and Emmett is dead or dying. Still now word on season 6 but we’ve still got a little bit of story left to tell.
That’s pretty much all I have to say about these shows. I want to know what you thought about their seasons. Sound off in the comments below or let me know your thoughts on Instagram and Twitter
